Nicholas Wong steps in as GM of Destination Asia Singapore, leading growth in leisure, MICE, and cruise sectors.
Destination Asia announced the appointment of Mr Nicholas Wong as the new General Manager of Destination Asia Singapore, taking over from Mr Matthew Smith, Destination Asia’s newly appointed CEO.
Mr. Wong’s appointment further strengthens the country’s leadership team and reaffirms Destination Asia’s position as Singapore’s leading destination management company. Since joining Destination Asia as Director of Leisure in 2018, Nic has led a dynamic team, developed innovative client offerings, and consistently delivered outstanding results.
With his extensive experience, Mr. Wong is well-positioned to lead the team in capitalising upon the demand growth across the company’s three core business divisions of leisure, MICE and cruise. Over the past 12 months, the team in Singapore has experienced record leisure travel bookings, with increased demand from across each of their source markets including Northern Europe, North America, as well as an increased interest from South America.
Mr. Wong shared, “Travellers are seeking customised itineraries more than ever before, with a specific focus on immersive cultural experiences and sustainable travel options. With a rising demand for wellness travel and luxurious cruise options for families, our team has an exciting opportunity to expand offerings in these areas.”
Singapore also remains a top destination for corporate travel, with its unique blend of modern infrastructure and rich cultural experiences. Destination Asia’s team’s dedication to delivering events that exceed expectations is reflected in their recent award win as ‘Singapore’s Best MICE Organiser’ in the 2024 World MICE Awards.
Further adding to Singapore’s appeal, Disney Cruise Line has recently announced its new homeport in Singapore starting in 2025. This milestone, reinforces Singapore’s status as a premier cruise destination in Asia, attracting families and leisure travellers, and highlighting Singapore as a strategic location as a gateway to exploring the broader region.
