VIA hosts Air Service World Congress in Kurumba Maldives, fostering global airline connections and boosting tourism.

Velana International Airport (VIA) is set to host the prestigious Air Service World Congress from today to July 11th at Kurumba Maldives, marking a significant milestone for the country’s tourism industry. Known as the world’s largest air transport business gathering, the congress will connect airlines and airports from around the globe.

Over 150 delegates, including representatives from Maldivian airlines, are expected to attend this event, which promises to be a unique experience for participants. “The Air Service World Congress will offer opportunities for new air travel ventures and business partnerships,” stated VIA. “We believe this congress will open many doors for tourism in the Maldives.”

The congress will attract more than just vacationers, as industry professionals from across the globe will be present. This gathering will create a platform to promote the Maldives’ aviation landscape, showcasing the country’s potential for the international air travel industry.

Our airport’s inception was intrinsically linked to tourism,” noted VIA. “Commercial aviation in the Maldives began to meet the demand for tourist travel. Our primary goal is to promote tourism and shape developments to benefit the industry.”

While the full impact of the Congress may take time to materialize, increased connectivity is anticipated. Currently, around 40 airlines serve the Maldives. Attracting additional carriers through this congress would make it easier for tourists from various regions to reach the island nation.

This year’s Air Service World Congress follows the announcement at last year’s congress in San Francisco. The event has previously been held in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Dubai, consistently serving as a significant platform for the global air transport industry.

The upcoming congress in the Maldives is expected to further strengthen the country’s position as a leading tourist destination and enhance its connectivity with the rest of the world.
