Gold Coast, showtime events has announced the launch of two new Australian travel shows, Adventure Travel & Sports Show and Luxury Travel Show.
Scheduled for the 5-7 May 2006, the two events will be held in Sydney at the Royal Hall of Industries and Hordern Pavilion at Moore Park Precinct (formerly Fox Studios).
Adventure Travel & Sports Show will consume 5000sq.m of space in the Royal Hall of Industries whilst the Luxury Travel Show is located next door in the Hordern Pavilion and will use over 3000sq.m of space. Both events will be marketed separately to ensure each event attracts its own target audience.
Produced by travel show and exhibition industry veteran Mark Harvey, Adventure Travel & Sports Show and the Luxury Travel Show will provide suppliers of specialised travel within these segments with a much more focused marketing platform than the `one size fits all` style of shows currently servicing the market.
Adventure Travel & Sports Show will bring together a wide range of adventure travel options including adventure tours, destinations, eco-tourism and nature experiences as well as activity focused travel like camping, canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, hiking, scuba diving, adventure racing, mountain biking and cycling.
According to a recent international travel survey, Australia has a reputation as a nation of daring, thrill seeking and adventurous holiday makers. The MasterIndexTM of Travel (1) survey conducted by MasterCard International found that 41 percent of Australians preferred holiday destinations that offered adventure and untamed encounters with nature.
Adventure Travel & Sports Show is the only event in Australia that is focused on the adventure travel industry. It will showcase everything adventure and nothing else.
Luxury Travel Show targets the big spenders in travel, those who are willing and able to spend money on the finest, most luxurious holidays available and overwhelmingly buy for quality, value and service rather than price.
“This is the show for the A-List of travellers and senior business executives who like to live well whilst travelling” said Mr Harvey.
Luxury travel is an industry in its own right with this lucrative travel segment representing the elite 3% of travellers who account for 20% of total annual travel expenditure.
“Luxury Travel Show is solely dedicated to the upper end of the travel industry and will showcase only the world’s finest, most luxurious holiday and travel options.”
“The show will feature luxury holidays and destinations, cruiselines, 5star and above accommodation, spas and resorts, luxury transport and airlines, elite retreats, exclusive islands, indulgent weekend escapes, wine tours, golf and ski resorts and premium consumer goods marketers” said Harvey.
Both shows will hold a trade day on the first day for travel agents, corporate and incentive buyers with the final two days open to consumers.
(1) The MasterIndex of Travel is released twice a year and encompasses a six month forecast of outbound travel for 12 markets (Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand) and a survey of business and personal travel trends among the urban middle class across the region. A total of 5,517 consumers from 13 markets participated in the survey (with Vietnam as the additional market included in the survey component).
