MUMBAI - Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) India recently hosted an interesting webinar in collaboration with Experiential Planner on ‘MICE and Destination Weddings in Macao through two insightful panel discussions. The eminent panel of speakers addressed the MICE & weddings opportunities and strengths of Macao as a versatile destination for all kinds of events.

The topics of the discussions were ‘Insights into the successful MICE programs in Macao’ and ‘Celebrated Weddings in Macao’, wherein panellists from the event planning industry and the Wedding planners shed light on their own experiences of conducting events in Macao and what the destination holds for the MICE & Wedding sector.

Whilst sharing their wonderful personal experiences, the panellists highlighted how Macao is an ideal destination for the MICE & wedding sector giving an opportunity to do business at leisure surrounded by luxury.

Speaking on why Macao qualifies as an ideal MICE and wedding destination, Navneeth Mohan, Director & CEO, Laqshya Live Experiences-India, commented, “Macao is one of my favourite destinations for corporate events. The primary thing I have to say is that there is something about Macao which is exclusive. For Indian corporate groups, it’s just not about the destination but also about how you can surprise your guest at this destination to create unforgettable memories for them. With brilliant hotels, venues, and great service, Macao has all the potential and is a fantastic destination for host MICE events. It’s a pearl in the East, truly to be explored and post the pandemic, I am sure it will create an even bigger impact amongst Indian travellers.”

Oum Pradutt, Founder & Managing Director, Phase 1 Events said, “What do we Indians would prudently need? We want easy access, visa on arrival, accessibility and What’s most important than that is you need a great nightlife, great conventional centers, delicious cuisine, great hotels, a little bit of culture, architecture, history. You name it and Macao has it all. Love every bit of this destination and I’ve always had some great experiences. It’s a dream destination for any event management company to do an event in Macao for all the good reasons. The people are warm and the city interactive with the option to discover its secrets through technology and games. Macao is authentic, on point, and for everyone”

Continuing the reminiscence of Macao, the second panel consisted of experts from the wedding industry. Being a famous destination, Macao can be termed as an apt venue for weddings, given the logistics, inventory, easy connectivity, and well-organized destination.

Expressing his view on the celebrated weddings in Macao, Mahindra Gangadharan, Managing Director, Neferrtiti commented, “I guess it’s every planner's delight to do something in Macao. It’s just not weddings but everything that happens along with weddings, when you go back you go back with wonderful memories. The logistics part is the easiest in Macao as everything is so well organized. Popular as the Las Vegas of the East, Macao is an exotic destination for Indian weddings with a blend of nightlife and history for the nuptials is definitely worth considering.”

Macao offers exceptional venues for social and corporate functions, where conferences can be seamlessly paired with networking events, rightfully justifying the destination’s tagline ‘Experience Macao Your Own Style’. Although given the current pandemic situation, there are still restrictions in travel & events, this informative webinar shared some great insights on how Macao can be better prepared when business tourism returns.
