Korean Air employees are now able to use cloud-based tools to create and compile documents, directly exchange ideas and obtain approvals regardless of location.
Hong Kong – Korean Air has taken another step in digital innovation. Following last November’s start of migration of its IT system to cloud computing, the airline has now adopted a new internal system: Google’s G-Suite, a cloud-based software tool kit that promotes productivity and collaboration.
G-Suite offers all-inclusive services, including g-mail, calendar, drive, documents and messenger, and promotes collaboration in the mobile business environment. Korean Air employees are now able to use cloud-based tools to create and compile documents, directly exchange ideas and obtain approvals regardless of location.
According to Korean Air, G-Suite offers a high level of security and data encryption, allowing for greater protection of personal information and data. Korean Air said that through this transformation in document creation and reporting methods, it hopes to bring a more efficient, horizontal organizational culture to the company.
Korean Air already has been making significant IT investments to adapt to the digital age. Since last November, the airline has been migrating all its applications and data to the cloud. When the migration is complete in 2021, Korean Air will be able to leverage new technologies such as AI, machine learning, big data analytics, Internet of Things (IoT), and database management to render customized services based on individual preferences for passengers around the world.
In order to improve the customer experience, Korean Air adopted a cloud-based passenger service system from a global solutions company five years ago. The airline recently introduced a new seat management system that expanded the demand forecast range for each passenger route. The airline also introduced a next-generation cargo system that increases customer benefits and works efficiently through improved online sales and cargo tracking services. Korean Air’s sales management systems for passenger and cargo sectors are also based in the cloud, to more quickly respond to shifting sales environments.
“We hope that the transition of the entire office environment into cloud will bring a huge amount of energy in the transformation of our organizational culture,” said Korean Air. “Based on cloud, we will communicate more with customers through SNS and provide more personalized services.”
