Thai Airbnb travellers are looking overseas and domestically for their summer travel fix with major cities and island resort destinations being the top picks.

Thailand – As summer beckons, travellers are planning their getaways to warmer climates with a focus on nature topping their choices. From the shimmering waters of Yeosu, South Korea to the mountains and caves in Bragg Creek, Canada, Airbnb travelers are discovering new off-the-grid destinations to immerse themselves in. 

Globally, these are some of the top trending destinations Airbnb guests are heading to this summer based on percentage growth in bookings during the same time last year*:

  • Valenciennes, France (704%)
  • Changsha, China (695%)
  • Matsudo, Japan (476%)
  • Marigot, St. Martin (467%)
  • Wuhan, China (454%)
  • Dorado, Puerto Rico (449%)
  • Yeosu, South Korea (408%)
  • Bragg Creek, Canada (382%)

Thai Airbnb travellers are looking both overseas and domestically for their summer travel fix with major cities and island resort destinations being their top picks.

Below are some of the top destinations Thai guests are booking on Airbnb for summer based on percentage growth in bookings during the same time last year*:

  • Bali, Indonesia (206%)
  • Taipei, Taiwan (156%)
  • Hong Kong (80%)
  • Bangkok (60%)
  • Koh Samui (41%)
  • Sapporo, Japan (29%)
Family Travellers are heading to Thailand

Intergenerational travel is increasingly in popularity globally and more families are planning for vacations together. Families are opting for affordable summertime getaways with charming main streets and beach access in top destinations like the United States, Canada and Turkey. They’re also continuing to crave adventurous excursions with bookings up in national parks neighbours Williams, Arizona and Santa Clara, Utah in the United States, seeing guest arrivals up 122 percent and 154 percent year-over-year, respectively**. 

Thailand is also a favoured destination for many families travelling this summer, with the top three source destinations based on percentage growth in bookings during the same time last year*, being:

  • China (58%)
  • Russian Federation (39%)
  • United Kingdom (84%)

Interests vary from seaside destinations to cities steeped in culture, with Chiang Mai, Pattaya and Bangkok being the top three travel destinations in Thailand for overseas families this summer.
