TAT Los Angeles’ 4th Amazing Thailand Virtual Marketplace concludes today

The event aimed at strengthening the Thai tourism industry and providing business opportunities during the gradual reopening of Thailand to international visitors.

Bangkok, Thailand – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Los Angeles Office hosted its 4th Annual Amazing Thailand Virtual Marketplace – The Americas Chapter on 28-29 July 2021, to connect travel professionals with a robust variety of Thailand’s top tourism attractions and suppliers.

Ms. Siriwan Seeharach, Director of the TAT Los Angeles Office, said “We are proud to have pioneered a digitally advanced trade event which gives Thai suppliers a virtual platform to connect with international buyers. As Thailand reopens its borders for quarantine-free travel under a phased programme, the Virtual Marketplace will serve an essential role in educating the industry on the reopening scheme as well as the latest product offerings throughout Thailand.”

This year’s event emphasised active travel with the primary focus being young travellers who are anticipated to travel abroad first, as well as highlighted a variety of new products and experiences related to romance and wellness travel.

Open to buyers from the US, Canada, and Latin America, the event attracted more participants than ever, with more than 44 suppliers and 700 travel professionals signed up to participate.

“We are thrilled that interest from the travel industry has been so strong and look forward to the opportunity to empower suppliers and buyers to forge new partnerships and drive visitation to Thailand’s diverse visitor attractions,” Ms. Siriwan said.

Attendees of the Virtual Marketplace participated in a full range of experiences, including informational sessions, seminars themed on romance and wellness, virtual happy hours, and even a selfie room.

While individual appointments with suppliers have reached capacity, attendees had the opportunity to chat one-on-one live with representatives from airlines, hotels, tour operators, and visitor attractions. Participating suppliers included Bangkok Airways, EVA Air, Qatar Airways, Japan Airlines, Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at the Chao Phraya River, the Peninsula Bangkok, Banyan Tree Hotels, Abercrombie and Kent, The Siam, Blue Voyage, and so much more.

All attendees had the chance to win a grand prize trip to Thailand for two with the winner to be announced at the closing event. Additional gifts and Thai souvenirs will be given away throughout the Marketplace’s seminars and events.

New to this year, the Virtual Marketplace will also be available as a fully functional mobile app for both IOS and Android, under the “Thailand Virtual Event”.

Thailand has gradually reopened for fully vaccinated international travellers without quarantine requirements starting with Phuket from 1 July, followed by Surat Thani (Ko Samui, Ko Pha-ngan and Ko Tao) from 15 July.
