From November 1, 2015, Scoot will fly non-stop five times a week between the two bustling cities. And it won’t cost the earth.

We’ve heard loud and clear the demands of Scoot to fly to Melbourne, and we’re delighted to finally be able to answer them,” Scoot chief executive officer Campbell Wilson said.

Melbourne, with its world-class culture, events, dining and surrounding scenery has long been on our radar and the arrival of our new Boeing 787s gives us the chance to add it to our network.

It’s been a long time coming, but we can’t wait to bring Melburnians, and Victorian travellers, more choice, more fantastic value and, of course, Scootitude.

The 787 Dreamliner will offer the best in comfort and amenities from onboard WiFi internet to in-seat power in economy, not to mention ScootBiz.

Scootbiz beats full service airlines’ premium economy cabins but costs less that their economy class price.

Whether you want a holiday in the buzzing Asian metropolis or to immerse yourself in Singapore’s world-class food and shopping, Scoot allows you to enjoy great value fares with plenty left over in your pocket to indulge.

Travellers can also connect beyond Singapore to 71 destinations served by Scoot or it’s partner airlines, including Phuket, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Bangkok.

The arrival of Scoot in Melbourne is also a boost for Victoria.

Since Scoot launched Sydney services in 2012, total arrivals from Singapore to the harbour city jumped 32% year on year, while Singaporean holidaymakers visiting regional NSW went from a 2.5% decline to 23% growth.  Other destinations served by Scoot, such as Gold Coast and Perth, have likewise experienced significant growth.

Tourism Victoria Chief Executive, Leigh Harry said the introduction of Scoot flights to Melbourne represented another positive development for the state’s $19.6 billion tourism industry.

Having Scoot in Victoria means greater competition, which can only benefit consumers in the form of more choice and lower prices,” Mr Harry said.

Critically, it will enable more tourists from Singapore, the state’s sixth largest source market for international visitors, to access the multitude of tourism experiences that Melbourne and regional Victoria has to offer. And it will also provide more options for visitors from North Asia to come to our state.

Chris Woodruff, CEO, Melbourne Airport said, “We are delighted to welcome Scoot to Melbourne. Singapore is a popular tourist destination and in response to growing demand for low cost international flights, Scoot will deliver more choice for Victorians when they commence services in 2015.

The Singapore-Melbourne route is the latest in Scoot’s expansion, adding to its existing services to Perth, Sydney and the Gold Coast.
