PENANG, MALAYSIA – The Penang International Travel Exchange (PITE), an event curated by Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) returns bigger for its fifth edition this year with a wider range of buyers.

Taking place from 15-17 November 2022, Penang welcomes 80 buyers from 14 countries, including Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Dubai, Germany, Philippines, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, UK, Turkey and from Malaysia.

PITE envisions to position Penang as Asia Pacific’s key Business Events and travel destination. This tradeshow is prominent in Malaysia’s tourism markets as every year, selected buyers worldwide are invited to Penang to meet our local industry players and the event catalyses the opportunity to discover the best product, services and unfiltered experience that Penang has to offer.

PITE 2022 will feature business-to-business (B2B) sessions and networking events. Additionally, familiarisation trips will be organised to provide buyers with a better understanding of Penang’s attractions such as breathtaking colonial architecture, natural scenic locations, culture, art and gastronomic experience which will enhance the destination appeal. This year, PITE hosts a total of 40 exhibitors from the leisure tourism and business events industries in Malaysia.

“PITE 2022 is a strong message that Penang is safe, ready, and moving progressively to rejuvenate and reactivate the business events industry. We are looking forward to expanding this tradeshow and position it as a globally recognised trade event” said Ashwin Gunasekeran, the Chief Executive Officer of Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau.

“In accordance with the vision and mission of PETACE, we will continue to do our part and strive towards making the travel industry as the foundation of the state’s economy. This is also intended to increase employment possibilities, attract new investments, foster new and current talent, and strengthen the local community” quoted YB Yeoh Soon Hin, the Penang State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy.

In conjunction with PITE 2022, the bureau also signed a memorandum of understanding with Network of Indian MICE Agents (NIMA), in order to boost the business ties between Penang and India.

“PCEB is regularly taking the initiatives to attract business event groups to visit Penang. Connecting with the Indian market is one of the efforts that are being done, especially with India being the key market for business tourism and events in Penang. In addition to the incentive group from India, we are making strenuous efforts to organise association meetings as well in Penang” quoted Ashwin.
