Ovolo Hotels announces the launch of Urban Resort Mamaka by Ovolo in Bali

Ovolo Hotels expands into Indonesia with first urban resort in Bali’s Kuta-Legian Area.

New York, US – Ovolo Hotels, the leading designer boutique hotel collection in Australia and Hong Kong, announces the launch of MAMAKA by Ovolo — the first Ovolo property in Indonesia and the first outside of Hong Kong and Australia.

MAMAKA by Ovolo’s design concept was spearheaded by Ara Design, incorporating vibrant colours with natural design elements to create a simple yet warm atmosphere for guests. The eclectically designed urban resort is located in the lively Kuta-Legian neighbourhood on the famous Kuta beachfront. The neighbourhood is home to various entertainment destinations and shopping centres and is most well-known for its picturesque sunsets and Kuta Beach’s renowned surf break.

“Kuta is definitely in need of something new and fresh to attract more modern and lifestyle-oriented visitors to the area through vibrant colours, design, and a focus on details,” Ara Design said. They also added, “We are very honoured to work with Ovolo Group to help develop MAMAKA in Bali and deliver an innovative and inspiring design to the Kuta neighbourhood.”

MAMAKA by Ovolo is comprised of 191 rooms and suites elegantly designed to echo the natural essence of Balinese culture. MAMAKA’s signature Swagger and Top Gun suites feature private minibars with mixology equipment so that guests can enjoy their own in-room cocktails.

Art at MAMAKA by Ovolo

MAMAKA’s main lobby features a 3D butterfly-shaped art installation by French-born, Los Angeles-based artist Punkmetender. The piece, Punkmetender’s first-ever commission in Indonesia, is showcased above the hotel entrance and in the guest lounge. “I’m very thrilled to present my artworks throughout the public spaces of MAMAKA in Bali, inspired by the intersection of street art and high fashion,” says Romaine, the man behind the stage-name of Punkmetender. In addition to the art displayed in the hotel’s public spaces, each guest room at MAMAKA by Ovolo features photography by Jason Childs, one of the world’s top surf photographers.

Fitness and Wellness at MAMAKA by Ovolo

Hotel guests have 24/7 access to the Wellness Zone, which features top-of-the-line gym equipment, including TRX, boxing and a balancing surfboard. The facility is open to in-house guests, as well as non-residents, who can access the facility by signing up for a Gym Membership package.

“We can’t wait to welcome back our guests and deliver the mind-blowing and unique experience in the Ovolo way,” said Joel Bartlett, General Manager of MAMAKA by Ovolo. He also added, “MAMAKA’s perfect location on Kuta Beach brings a much-needed revamp to the area and we are here to bring back the good vibrations.”

MAMAKA’s location on Kuta Beach is very well-known to surfers, with its long stretch of golden sand and breathtaking sunsets. MAMAKA by Ovolo has teamed up with Quiksilver Bali Surf Academy to provide the best surfing lessons to guests with the best ISA-certified coaches.

The Eclectic Flavours at MAMAKA by Ovolo

MAMAKA by Ovolo features three food and beverage venues: Street 32 Cocktail Bar & Eatery, which serves cocktails and Pan Asian Street food-inspired fare; One Pink Goat, also known as OPG coffee, located within Street 32, which serves locally sourced coffee and espresso; and Mamaka Rooftop, which offers a robust cocktail menu and features spectacular views of the Indian Ocean and sunset.

The hotel will also unveil its meeting spaces at the end of October 2022.

The Rooftop at MAMAKA by Ovolo

Set on MAMAKA by Ovolo’s rooftop is Bali’s highest rooftop pool, a restaurant, and an impressive bar. The space, which is designed to look like a beach shack with a large, arched “straw” roof, offers breathtaking views of Kuta and its surroundings. Hotel guests and sunset revellers can enjoy DJ sets and scenic views over sundowners, delectable bites, cocktails, a curated wine list.

Safety and hygiene have become the top priority at MAMAKA by Ovolo to ensure the well-being of guests during their stay. All health and safety procedures have been put in place following the guidelines from the local authorities, as well as by the World Health Organization (WHO). MAMAKA by Ovolo has also been granted the Clean, Health, Safety & Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) certification given by the Ministry of Tourism & Creative Economy Indonesia.

As a result, the staff and colleagues of MAMAKA by Ovolo and their immediate family are all fully vaccinated.
