Four Points by Sheraton Bangkok/Sukhumvit 15 offers to the guests a great location, great product, great entertainment and great public transportation.
On arrival at the Four Points by Sheraton Bangkok/Sukhumvit 15 you get a sense of space and elegance from its marble-clad lobby, tall ceilings and abundant art work.
The hotel is a piece of prime real eastate. A Sheraton property, part of the world's largest hotel group. The hotel's location couldn't be better. Bangkok's inner-city is renowned for its heavy traffic. The Four Points is within easy walking distance of the skytrain at Asoke station and is perfect for getting around Bangkok as it also links to the MRT underground system. The popular QSNCC convention centre, which hosts important industry events and shows year-round, is just a few stops away.
There is no better way to explore the city than walking. Out of the hotel turn left and 50m later left again onto Sukhumvit Road and within minutes you're in one of Bangkok's most popular shopping venues - Terminal 21. The shopping mall has a myriad of shops, restaurants, stalls and boutiques. It's a great place to sit and watch the world go by or while-away the hours. Browse and shop, stay cool in the heat and have a fun afternoon.
The Grand Palace and the historic heartland of Bangkok, the Chao Phraya river, the famous Chatuchak JJ Market are all easily accessible from the Four Points Sheraton hotel.
Even before checking-in our first port of call was to meet our friends who had arrived earlier and were waiting in the hotel's coffee shop - the Eatery. It turned out to be my favourite place to eat and to meet over the next few days. The design of the space makes you feel happy. With bright sunny colours with easy clean surfaces and comfortable seating. It's bright and airy. Both a la carte and buffet options are available and the layout of the restaurant has been very well thought out. Breakfast is buffet style with lots of stations offering eggs-as-you-like them, noodle stalls and Asian specialities. The variety and choices are impressive. Full International /American/English/Scandinavian/continental breakfasts as well as Asian flavours are all available. Cereal; juices, fresh fruit, yoghurt and delicious bakery items. It had everything you could wish for. And great coffee.
It's not just the hard-ware that was good. The staff were exemplary, the kitchen team at the buffet lines and the service team were always ready with a smile and a greeting and no small request was ever too much. The whole team cared and it showed.
The hotel is well equipped with 4 meeting rooms and an outdoor space with great flexibility and capable of catering for upwards of 350 people. Fully fitted with AV equipment and like the rest of the hotel this includes free WiFi.
Our room was on the fifth floor, in the garden wing. The room was bright and sunny and again had a great sense of space. The room featured two double beds. The bathroom was a good size and included a walk-in shower as well as a full-sized bath. There was a great choice of luxury amenities and a caring attitude to the environment was visible; re-using towels and bed linen should guest's so wish.
The room had everything that you would need for a comfortable stay; mini bar, dryer, tea coffee making facilities, complimentary bottled water and Wi-Fi throughout the whole hotel. It worked without a hitch. Connectivity is very important for my work and this was hassle free, a welcome change. The addition of ample sockets for all manner of plugs was one thing that I found particularly useful as was a full-sized work desk with desk lamp and ergonomically designed chair which made working at the table easy and comfortable.
I also liked the fact that the hotel had four pillows on each bed. Something I often have to do when I check into a hotel is ask for extra pillows (and coat hangers) this was not necessary on both counts. The beds were so comfortable and the bedlinen duvets and sheets, were cool and comfortable. The room was spotless throughout our stay.
The rooms feature large flat screen TVs and cable channels aplenty, catering for nationalities from around the world. However TV was not on my mind but I was keen to try out the unique entertainment options that make this hotel so special. First on the list was a visit to the intriguingly named pub 'The Drunken Leprechaun'.
The pub with its distinctly Irish theme serves real Guinness which is imported from Dublin, a real treat. It has a mellow, smoother, flavour than Malaysian-brewed Guinness, which tends to be a little heavier and bitter. Happy hour is a long 4 hours 4pm-8pm nightly so there was no real reason to hurry. In addition from 6pm onwards there are also complimentary canapes and snacks and I could clearly see were popular with many guests. There is a great choice of imported beers as well as local favourites. The bar is extremely popular as a sports bar and has a small meeting area at the back which is used by local clubs as a rendezvous point. Their supporters include cricket; rugby union, ice hockey, soft ball and Irish football. The pub has a very loyal following amongst the clubs and lends to a great atmosphere.
The outdoor pool on the roof top provides guests with space to exercise or simply lay in the sun. It's also a great place to wind down with cocktail in hand. Enjoy the amBar - the hotel's poolside outlet, with its amazing butterfly wall. Tasty bar meals are available as you enjoy the al-fresco atmosphere and entertainment. The hotel also hosts a special monthly pool party here, for residents and non-residents, with live entertainment. It's a popular venue and is well supported by regulars. And if salsa is your passion then regular tuition classes and dance evenings are proving especially popular too.
The lobby business centre is open 24 hours as is the fitness centre. Day or night, whatever your sleep pattern, time zone, or your body clock dictates. You can keep your work up to date along with your fitness regime. Two iMac computers are available free of charge at the business centre. There's a great tree filled park nearby too (Queen Sirikit Park) if jogging is your passion.
The Four Points is also home to Hooters with its own unique brand of American food and wings, cold beer, sports, in-house entertainment and of course, Hooters Girls.
