Set to become a regional flagship for the brand, Mercure Miri City Centre highlights the natural and cultural heritage of Borneo, with locally inspired design, a signature rooftop restaurant and cocktail bar.
MIRI, MALAYSIA – Accor has expanded its portfolio in Malaysia with the opening of Mercure Miri City Centre, a stylish and modern hotel that blends international hospitality, with a design concept that highlights the natural wonders of Borneo.
The gateway to ecological attractions, such as Gunung Mulu National Park and the Niah Caves, Miri – the second largest city in the state of Sarawak – Miri attracts business and leisure travellers alike. Surrounded by local attractions, government offices, shopping malls and a heritage centre, Mercure Miri City Centre reflects the area’s vibrant culture with a collection of curated artworks that showcase the region’s abundant flora and fauna, as well as Sarawak’s 32 ethnic groups. These nature-inspired interiors, bright colours and authentic crafts accompany guests throughout their journey.
Mercure Miri City Centre is also set to become a social hub, where global explorers come to meet, dine and unwind. Belian is a lively all-day dining restaurant with a multi-cuisine concept and a space that transforms throughout the day to create a different vibe, while Atoti is a casual café and gelato parlour, that specializes in signature treats such as house-made gelato using traditional Italian recipes. As day turns to night and the sun sets over the sea, Cavakita is sure to become the new place to be in Miri. Perched on the rooftop, this Asian and Latin American-themed restaurant and bar serves chargrilled meats and fresh seafood, accompanied by locally-inspired beverages. With its contemporary theme and sensational views, Cavakita will be a popular hotspot for both hotel guests and visitors. Throughout their stay, guests can cool off in the rooftop infinity swimming pool, which is adorned with colourful illustrations, or enjoy a workout at the fitness centre.
The 172 stylishly appointed rooms come fully equipped with comfortable king or twin beds and everything travellers need to stay productive, such as complimentary tea & coffee, a 55-inch TV, high-speed Wi-Fi, etc. Two floors of Mercure Privilege Rooms offer partial sea views, along with exclusive amenities such as coffee machines. Guests can also opt for the larger Junior Suites or Deluxe Junior Suites for more creature comforts such as a larger living area, with sofa set and a bathtub.
For corporate travellers and meeting planners, two dedicated floors of conference and banqueting facilities set the stage for impressive events. The light-filled 292-square metre Terabai Grand Ballroom on Level 3A, with its 6.8-metre-high ceilings, can host up to 200 delegates for large functions or be divided into two.
On a dedicated floor, the innovative and fully-equipped, Ruai Coworking Space, with stadium seating, private booths, and various styles of work stations – is great for the new generation of professionals that like to blur the boundaries between business and social interaction. Here, executives can find Merbau I, Merbau II, and Ruai Gawa boardrooms that seats 12 executives each.
