VNAT Vice Chairman Ha Van Sieu meets with Korea’s Shinsegae Group to discuss boosting Vietnam’s golf tourism and infrastructure development.

Mr. Ha Van Sieu, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT) had a meeting with Mr. Lee Chang Kun, Vietnam Tourism Ambassador in Korea and representative of Shinsegae Group this week on the proposal of the Golf tourism development project in Vietnam.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Lee Chang Kun said, that Vietnam is a country that owns a favorable and diversified tourism resource, a beautiful landscape, premium golf course system, attractive to Korean tourists. Notably, in recent years, Vietnam has been an attractive destination for golfers around the world. Vietnam has been crowned 7 times as Asia’s Best Golf Destination and World’s Best Golf Destination twice. Also, Vietnam has been chosen to be a venue for international professional tournaments.

In the Vietnam Tourism Development Strategy until 2030, developing infrastructure and building golf tourism products is one of the key directions of Vietnam’s tourism industry. Therefore, Mr. Lee Chang Kun invites the Korean Shinsegae to develop Project Building Vietnam to become the best golf country.

According to Shinsegae Group, in 2022, Korea had 11% of the population playing golf with a size of about USD15.1 billion. Annually, the rate of Korean tourists coming to Southeast Asian countries, including Vietnam, to play golf is increasingly high. As a result, Shinsegae Group wishes to cooperate with a leading partner in the field of golf tourism in Vietnam to invest in the development of golf tourism, building a system of duty-free stores in Vietnam and bringing more tourists to play golf to the country.
