Tourism has always been a significant economic driver for the NT economy and investing in its future is a great way of building on a solid base.
Recent announcement of a significant funding to boost the Northern Territory’s tourism industry will help propel growth for the industry in the top end.
“Tourism has always been a significant economic driver for the NT economy and investing in its future is a great way of building on a solid base,” ATEC Managing Director, Peter Shelley said.
“Much of our international image is based on the extraordinary natural landscape of the Northern Territory and this is the place many overseas visitors come to see.
“This is a significant and well deserved boost to tourism businesses in the Territory and the small businesses which are delivering some of the most uniquely Australian experiences to our international travellers.
“This is a buoyant time for the global tourism industry and this investment is great news for the Northern Territory economy which will reap the rewards of this investment."
ATEC NT Branch Chairman, Wayne Thompson, said that the investment would connect well with Tourism Australia’s recent ‘Crocodile Dundee’ marketing push which will elevate the brand and the destination appeal of the Northern Territory.
“The NT Government has done a great job in consulting with local tourism businesses and using their knowledge in developing a strategy to market and invest in tourism product in order to make the NT a ‘bucket list’ destination for international visitors,” Mr Thompson said.
