Vietnam and Korea sign agreement to boost tourism in 2025-2026

Vietnam and Korea Sign Agreement

Vietnam and Korea have signed an MoU to enhance tourism cooperation for 2025-2026, focusing on information exchange, digital transformation, and improving tourist experiences and services.

Vietnam and Korea have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing tourism cooperation for the 2025-2026 period. The agreement, formalized on July 1 in Seoul, underscores a mutual commitment to promoting tourism between the two nations.

The MoU was signed by the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT) and the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) in a ceremony attended by notable figures, including Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, and Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea Jang Mi Ran.

This strategic cooperation will focus on several key areas:

  • Information and Experience Exchange: Both countries will share insights and best practices in tourism development.
  • Tourist Experience Enhancement: Initiatives will be undertaken to improve the quality of tourist services and boost two-way tourist exchanges.
  • Tour Guide Services: Efforts will be made to upgrade tour guide services to provide better experiences for tourists.
  • Tourism Promotion: Support for organizing and participating in each other’s tourism promotion events will be strengthened.

A significant aspect of the agreement is the emphasis on digital transformation within the tourism industry. This includes promoting collaboration between experts and businesses in smart tourism and facilitating tourism activities through the Smart Travel Card initiative.

The MoU serves as a foundation for deeper cooperation in managing and ensuring the quality of tourism services. It also encourages tourism businesses from both sides to engage in cooperative ventures and investments in the tourism sector.

This new MoU builds on a previous agreement for the 2023-2024 period, which saw successful collaborative events such as the Vietnam Tourism Roadshow and the Vietnam Cultural and Tourism Festival in Korea. Both countries also actively participated in international fairs like VITM and ITE HCMC in Vietnam and SITF in Korea.

Beyond bilateral initiatives, Vietnam and Korea continue to foster cooperation within broader multilateral frameworks, including ASEAN and partner countries, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC), and the ASEAN-Korea Center (AKC). VNAT has been particularly supportive of KTO’s activities in Vietnam.

The newly signed MoU marks a significant step forward in strengthening tourism ties between Vietnam and Korea, aiming to boost tourism exchanges and create richer, more seamless travel experiences for tourists from both nations.
