Taiwan Tourism Bureau full steam ahead in IMEX

Highlights of the experiential activities that took place across the showfloor this May included the Google Experience Institute (Xi) CoLabs, the Encore Ideation Station, and the DRPG & Maritz – More than Experience Theatre among others. The emphasis was on breaking away from the norm and doing things differently.

On May 23-25, the Taiwan Tourism Bureau along with the Bureau of Foreign Trade jointly led 12 of our best companies from the MICE industry, promoting Taiwan’s outstanding MICE environment and making use of the European MICE market in IMEX Frankfurt to bolster up the return of business tourism.

IMEX Frankfurt, one of the most significant MICE industry exhibitions in the world, sets up different themes and shows important trends during the exhibition each year. Building on NATURE—the previous IMEX theme that ran for over two years due to the pandemic – IMEX has announced HUMAN NATURE as its Talking Point for 2023. Running as a thread throughout the show, the Talking Point celebrates the innate human need to meet face to face and its ensuing benefits, from driving business growth to creating lifelong, global connections and to encourage everyone in the global meetings, events, and incentive travel industry to recognize, understand and celebrate all that’s good about being human, particularly human diversity. The show has been designed to deliver a broad experience, to showcase a range of innovative–and often surprising–learning experiences, and to offer networking opportunity for the professionals.

According to the Taiwan Tourism Bureau, the MICE industry drives the growth of tourism related and peripheral industries and therefore creates considerable benefits for the economy. Additionally, Taiwan is abundant in natural resources. With talented MICE professionals and unique venues, as well as the perfect location in the center of Asia, Taiwan has become the best destination for meetings and incentive travel in Asia. After the 2020 ICCA Congress in Kaohsiung, Taiwan has again successfully won the bid to host the annual International Association of Professional Congress Organisers (IAPCO) in Taipei in 2025. The Taiwan MICE industry is flourishing and well on in its way.

This year, the Taiwan Pavilion was designed with large and uniquely featured local photos of Taiwan and embellished with Taiwan’s skyline displaying distinctive landmarks, along with fresh flowers to create just the right amount of coziness for negotiations. Also, some appealing activities including a sugar painting performance, a taste of Taiwanese cocktails and freshly made traditional wheel cakes were available at the pavilion during the exhibition. Traditional snacks and Taiwanese tea were also served. This enchanting collection of activities attracted buyers and attendees to visit the Taiwan pavilion, stopping them in their tracks as a result of the astonishing Taiwan experience. What’s more, the marketing manager of the Taiwan Tourism Bureau, Frankfurt Office introduced what’s the newest and latest in Taiwan’s MICE industry, as well offer government support to all the buyers joining the event. Many buyers expressed positive feedback and theirs hopes to further discuss the opportunity to hold MICE events in Taiwan.
