TAIPEI – Star Cruises, Asia Pacific’s leading cruise line, has announced the launch of a new 3-month Kaohsiung homeport deployment of flagship SuperStar Virgo and a 6 Day/5 Night “Golden Triangle Journey”, featuring ports of call in Hong Kong, Manila and Laoag, allowing Taiwanese cruisers the flexibility to embark or disembark in Kaohsiung, Hong Kong or Manila. This new homeport and itinerary will provide a boost to the travel industry of Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

In 2013 and 2015, Star Cruises’ flagship, SuperStar Virgo, launched her Kaohsiung-Hong Kong itinerary during her homeport in Kaohsiung, which was well received by passengers from Taiwan. In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Genting Hong Kong’s establishment of Star Cruises’ Taiwan office, SuperStar Virgo will return to Taiwan with Kaohsiung as her homeport from March to May., Along with SuperStar Aquarius’ homeport in Keelung, Star Cruises is once again the only cruise line with “Double Northern and Southern Homeports” in Taiwan! Passengers who depart from Northern Taiwan can enjoy Japanese destinations such as Naha, Ishigaki and Miyakojima in Okinawa, while passengers who opt for departures from Southern Taiwan will appreciate fascinating destinations including Hong Kong and Manila and Laoag in the Philippines.

In 2016, nearly 25 million tourists worldwide have enjoyed a cruise; in response to overwhelming popular demand for cruise options in Taiwan, Mr. Ang Moo Lim, President of Star Cruise says: “After two years’ time and with the support of Taiwanese passengers, we are pleased to return to Kaohsiung with a brand-new “Golden Triangle Journey”, a unique experience pioneered by Star Cruises that showcases Hong Kong, Kaohsiung, Manila and Laoag in one cruise journey for the first time. Over the 6 Day/5 Night voyage, passengers will enjoy a carefree cruise holiday of local gastronomic delights, distinctive architecture and sunny beaches, highlighted by the metropolitan flair of Hong Kong, the distinctive East-meets-West cultural diversity of Manila, as well as the Spanish colonial architecture and white sand beaches of Laoag.”

Wayne Liu, Deputy Director of Tourism Bureau, Ministry of Transportation and Communications, Taiwan, welcomes Star Cruises’ Kaohsiung homeport deployment in March – May, 2017: “Collaboration between cruise destinations and cruise lines is crucial to the development of the cruise travel industry. The 2017 triple homeport deployment of Star Cruises in Taiwan, the Philippines and Hong Kong reflects the mutual objective shared between Star Cruises and Asia Cruise Cooperation (ACC) to expand the cruise travel market and create a mutually beneficial business environment. The Ministry of Transportation and Communications stands in full support, ready to welcome new travellers to Taiwan. We also encourage our travel industry partners to expand the horizon with more shore excursions to attract more travellers to enjoy Asia by cruise!”
