Tigerair Australia celebrated flying 12 million passengers since domestic operations first commenced in November 2007 with over 1,200 seats on spaceial sale in a 24-hour flash sale.
Tigerair Australia Commercial Director, Carly Brear, says this is a significant milestone for the airline. “Today’s $12 airfare sale is one way to say thank you to the 12 million people who have chosen to fly Tigerair. You don’t need to be a member of any special club to access these fantastic value fares – everyone is a ‘VIP’ to us, but I’d recommend booking quickly before they sell out,” she says.
Lucky WA resident, Andrew Ward, is Tigerair’s 12 millionth passenger who is flying home with his family on flight TT184, departing Melbourne to arrive into Perth. He was presented with a $1200.00 flight voucher to use for future travel when he checked in for his flight.
He says he’s thrilled to be the 12 millionth passenger as it means he will be able to visit family and friends more often. “This is the first time we’ve travelled with our newborn baby so it’s fantastic we can now do it again soon. Most of our family and friends are in Melbourne so we will likely use the voucher to fly over and spend Christmas with them,” he says.
Tigerair’s first domestic service flew from Melbourne to Gold Coast on 23 November 2007. At that time the airline had two A320 aircraft based at Melbourne Airport Tullamarine, flying to locations including Sunshine Coast, Hobart and Gold Coast. Tigerair now has 11 A320 aircraft in Australia and 17 popular domestic routes on sale.
