Tiger Airways reaches 2 millionth customer milestone in Adelaide

Tiger Airways Australia celebrates its 2 millionth passenger at Adelaide Airport. Shelley Roberts, Managing Director, Tiger Airways Australia, said “It’s fantastic to reach the 2 million passenger milestone in just under 18 months of operation in Australia. It goes to show that travellers are embracing our product and that we have a sustainable business model. With our continued growth in Australia, the next milestone is just around the corner.

“Tiger Airways is the fastest growing airline in Australia today and since we started, Australians have saved more than $60 million in reduced airfares. We have grown over 50% this year alone with the opening our new Adelaide base in March 2009 and adding two new aircraft to our fleet.

“We’re thrilled to be the only major domestic airline with a base in Adelaide and we look forward to continuing to benefit the people of South Australia with increased tourism, more jobs and consistently the lowest fares for travel around Australia,” she says.

Tiger Airways is soon to launch two new key routes – Adelaide to Sydney commences 31 July. The new Melbourne to Sydney route commences 3 July 2009. Tiger Airways is currently running a promotion for travel from Adelaide and Melbourne to Queensland. The sale ends at midnight on Wednesday 20 May and Shelley urges people to get in quick to avoid disappointment.

Tiger Airways currently employs more than 200 people throughout Australia (more than 60 in Adelaide) and recently announced the creation of twenty new jobs in Sydney to handle ground services when the new routes fly into Sydney in July, as well as an expansion of its management team in Melbourne with a number of new key management positions and the recruitment of a dedicated customer services team.
