Star Air plans to expand to 25 aircraft, enhancing connectivity across India’s underserved regions with new E175 inductions.

BENGALURU, INDIA – Star Air, the aviation arm of the Sanjay Ghodawat Group (SGG) and a rapidly expanding player in India‘s aviation sector, has unveiled an ambitious fleet expansion plan targeting a 25-aircraft fleet over the next 36 months. As part of this plan, Star Air will induct two new E175 aircraft in the current fiscal year (FY25), with an additional four scheduled for FY26. This fleet expansion reflects Star Air’s commitment to “Connecting Real India” by enhancing access to quality air travel for underserved regions and reinforcing the Government of India’s UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) initiative. The airline currently operates a fleet of 9 aircraft – 4 Embraer E175s and 5 Embraer E145s.

These new E175s will allow Star Air to increase deployed capacity and operate more efficiently on existing and upcoming routes, strengthening the airline’s ability to offer enhanced connectivity across Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities in India. Known for their superior fuel efficiency and passenger comfort, the E175s align perfectly with Star Air’s ethos of providing swift, comfortable travel experiences across the country.

Capt. Simran S Tiwana, CEO of Star Air, spoke about the airline’s long-term growth strategy, stating, “The addition of these new Embraer E175 aircraft marks a pivotal step in our journey. As we expand our fleet to 25 aircraft, we reaffirm our commitment to reaching more underserved markets and setting new standards in air travel. Each milestone in this expansion brings us closer to connecting more of Real India, offering fast, efficient, and high-quality flying experiences for our passengers.”

Since inception in 2019, Star Air has successfully flown over 1.3 million passengers across 21 Destinations, creating accessible, affordable, and reliable air travel options across states including Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, Punjab, Goa, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra. As the airline progresses toward its 25-aircraft goal, it is well-positioned to meet increasing demand and continue setting new standards in regional connectivity.
