Scoot adds Embraer E190-E2 aircraft, launching flights to Kertajati, Indonesia, and Malacca, Malaysia, expanding its Southeast Asian network.

Scoot, the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, has announced that it will receive its third and fourth Embraer E190-E2 aircraft in Singapore in September and October 2024. The third aircraft is named “Jalan-Jalan,” and the fourth is named “Travel Kaki.”

With the addition of these new aircraft, Scoot will launch flights to two new Southeast Asian destinations: Kertajati, an alternative destination for nature lovers in Indonesia, and Malacca in Malaysia, known for its rich Peranakan cultural heritage.

Flights to Kertajati will commence on September 28, 2024, with a frequency of twice a week, while Malacca will be served five times a week starting October 23, 2024.

Mr. Leslie Thng, CEO of Scoot, stated: “We are excited to announce the addition of two new destinations to our growing network—Kertajati in Indonesia and Malacca in Malaysia. Since the introduction of the E190-E2 aircraft in May, we continue to see strong demand for our flights, which have connected many of our customers to various destinations across Southeast Asia. We invite our customers to explore these new destinations, experience new cultures, and create unforgettable travel memories with us.”

In addition to Kertajati and Malacca, Scoot is expanding its routes with new E190-E2 aircraft. Starting in October 2024, Scoot will increase flights to Pekanbaru, Balikpapan, and Makassar (Indonesia). From November, it will operate nine flights per week to Davao (Philippines), and from December, four flights per week to Vientiane (Laos). Flights to Subang (Malaysia) will also begin on September 1, 2024, offering an alternative route to Kuala Lumpur.

Overall, from October 2024, Scoot will operate 78 weekly flights to Indonesia and 115 weekly flights to Malaysia. From November 2024, it will operate 37 weekly flights to the Philippines, and from December 2024, four weekly flights to Laos.

The airline’s network will also expand to 72 destinations, offering more direct connections to non-metropolitan cities across Southeast Asia and strengthening Singapore’s role as a regional aviation hub. With the addition of these new Southeast Asian destinations, Scoot hopes to inspire more travelers to visit the region.
