Hainan Airlines Resumes Brussels to Shanghai Direct Flights

Hainan Airlines resumed its Brussels to Shanghai direct flights, enhancing economic and cultural ties between Belgium and China, with four weekly flights starting June 18th.

Brussels – On June 18th, Hainan Airlines announced the successful resumption of its direct flight route from Brussels Airport to Shanghai (Pudong). The ceremony, graced by esteemed guests including Mr. Arnaud Feist, CEO of Brussels Airport, Minister Counselor Mr. Wu Gang of the Chinese Embassy in Belgium, and Mr. Li Meng, General Manager of Hainan Airlines Brussels Office, emphasized the significance of this connection in strengthening economic and cultural ties between Belgium and China.

In his speech, Arnaud Feist remarked, “The resumption of the Brussels to Shanghai route by Hainan Airlines is a significant milestone that will further strengthen the economic and cultural ties between Belgium and China. Thanks to this new route to the metropole of Shanghai, Hainan Airlines now connects Brussels Airport with the three largest cities in China.”

Minister Counselor Wu Gang highlighted, “This new route is a testament to the deepening relationship between our two countries. It will undoubtedly promote greater cultural exchange and cooperation, benefiting both our nations.”

Li Meng, General Manager of Hainan Airlines Brussels Office, added, “We are excited to bring back the Brussels to Shanghai route, enhancing our service offerings and meeting the growing travel demand. This is a great opportunity to foster closer ties and mutual growth.”

As part of the celebration, a vibrant lion dance performance delighted attendees, symbolizing prosperity and good fortune for the newly resumed route.

The Brussels to Shanghai (Pudong) route will operate four flights per week, specifically on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, ensuring convenient travel between Brussels and Shanghai (Pudong). Passengers can enjoy a comfortable travel experience through various channels, including the official website, app, WeChat official account, and mini- program, making seamless booking easy. The resumption of the Brussels to Shanghai (Pudong) route will foster deeper cultural exchange and cooperation between the two regions.

As of now, Hainan Airlines offers double daily flights between Belgium and China, providing more travel options for passengers traveling between Europe and China.

Additionally, to facilitate international travel, China has unilaterally announced visa-free policies for nationals of 13 countries, including 12 European nations. On December 1st, 2023, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Mao Ning, announced China’s decision to implement visa-free policies for ordinary passport holders from France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Malaysia, and Greece. Additionally, since March 14th, 2024, China has implemented a trial visa-free policy for ordinary passport holders from Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, and Luxembourg.

These expanded visa-free entry policies underscore China’s commitment to promoting the healthy and vibrant development of the inbound and outbound tourism markets.

Furthermore, Hainan Airlines currently operates 43 international and regional passenger routes from various Chinese cities including Beijing, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Haikou, Chongqing, Xi’an, Changsha, Taiyuan, Dalian, and Guangzhou. Looking ahead, Hainan Airlines will accelerate the resumption and expansion of international and regional flights to meet the growing market demand.
