Business Aviation

Chengdu FBO began operations on June 28, 2024, marking a significant milestone for business aviation and the low-altitude economy in Southwest China, driving regional economic growth.

Chengdu Fixed Base Operator (FBO) commenced operations on June 28, 2024, marking a significant milestone for business aviation and the low-altitude economy in Southwest China. This launch represents a pivotal development in the region’s aviation industry, underscoring Chengdu’s innovative approach in integrating the “business aviation + low-altitude economy” model.

Sichuan Huahui Business Aviation Services Co., Ltd., established in April 2023 through a partnership between Sichuan Airport Group Aviation Ground Services Co., Ltd., and Sino Jet (Beijing) Co., Ltd., is the exclusive authorized operator of Chengdu FBO. This collaboration consolidates top-tier resources, positioning Chengdu FBO as a regional hub for business aviation and a benchmark for low-altitude economic development. The launch will invigorate the business aviation sector and drive unprecedented advancements in the low-altitude economy of Southwest China.

Integration of Business Aviation with the Low-Altitude Economy

Business jets are preferred by entrepreneurs and elite individuals for their efficiency and convenience. Chengdu FBO, located at Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, spans 5,500 square meters and features 20 dedicated parking spots. It offers comprehensive, one-stop services for business jets and serves as a central hub for the low-altitude economy. High-end commercial travelers and business jet passengers can seamlessly transfer to eVTOL and other low-altitude aircraft, significantly enhancing travel efficiency.

The low-altitude economy, driven by various low-altitude flight activities, is fostering integrated development across industries such as aviation tourism, regional passenger transport, and general aviation services. This economic model is experiencing remarkable growth opportunities. Continuous technological advancements bolster the research, development, and manufacturing of low-altitude aircraft, such as eVTOL vehicles, drones, and general aviation aircraft, enhancing performance and safety. Ongoing policy support further expands the application scenarios for the low-altitude economy.

Currently, mainstream business jets are designed for long-distance missions between airports, requiring specific airport and runway conditions. In contrast, eVTOL aircraft require minimal take-off and landing sites, emit zero carbon, and offer high performance and safety. These aircraft complement business jets, providing seamless connections and high-quality, door-to-door travel solutions. This integration enhances the value of time, optimizing travel efficiency.

Forward-Thinking Approach

Chengdu FBO’s forward-thinking approach identifies the development potential of the low-altitude economy. Through collaboration with industry leaders like AEROFUGIA, Chengdu FBO pioneers the innovative model combining “business aviation + low-altitude economy.” This model not only offers convenient and high-quality services to business jet clients but also revitalizes urban transportation in Southwest China, presenting new solutions to urban traffic congestion.

The low-altitude economy has become a strategically significant industry globally, driven by the rapid development of digital technologies, 5G communications, and other emerging technologies. According to the Civil Aviation Administration of China, by the end of 2023, there were 689 general aviation companies in China with 3,173 registered general aviation aircraft and 451 general aviation airports. Additionally, there were approximately 2,000 drone design and manufacturing units, nearly 20,000 operating companies, and 1.267 million registered drones in China. The low-altitude economy in China exceeded RMB 500 billion in 2023 and is projected to reach RMB 2 trillion by 2030.

Strategic Location and Future Prospects

De Yongheng, General Manager of Sichuan Huahui Business Aviation Services Co., Ltd., emphasized that Chengdu’s strategic geographical location and efficient transportation network lay a solid foundation for becoming a regional aviation hub. Chengdu FBO will support the low-altitude economy by optimizing airport connections and air travel services, aiming to become a demonstration point for urban air traffic in Southwest China and ultimately a comprehensive hub integrating business aviation and the low-altitude economy in China.

By pooling high-quality resources from their respective fields, Sichuan Airport Group and Sino Jet are paving the way for a new era of smart travel, driving the development of the low-altitude economy in Southwest China and nationwide.

Smart Travel Model

The launch of Chengdu FBO enhances the service quality of business aviation and promotes the development of smart travel. During the launching ceremony, Chengdu FBO hosted seminars on business aviation and low-altitude economic development in collaboration with the Asian Business Aviation Association, T-CAPITAL, and the Institute for Global Private Equity, Tsinghua University. These seminars provided insights and future development directions, infusing fresh vitality into Chengdu FBO’s smart travel model.

Chengdu FBO also offers diversified services, integrating art exhibitions and upscale dining to meet the refined lifestyle needs of business jet users. This innovative approach enhances the overall service quality and contributes to the regional economy’s prosperity.

Conclusion

The Southwest region enters a new stage of development in business aviation and the low-altitude economy with the official operation of Chengdu FBO. Leveraging outstanding facilities, a professional service team, and innovative business models, Chengdu FBO is becoming a key player in transforming urban transportation in the Southwest region. Looking ahead, Chengdu FBO will continue to lead in business aviation and the low-altitude economy, fostering economic prosperity and providing valuable insights for intelligent travel on both national and global scales.
