Brussels Airport celebrates first flight with Juneyao Air

Juneyao Air begins direct flights between Brussels and Shanghai, enhancing connectivity and trade. The thrice-weekly service boosts economic ties and offers seamless connections with Brussels Airlines.

Brussels Airport welcomed Juneyao Air for its first flight at Brussels Airport, now offering direct flights to Shanghai, operating three times a week.

Juneyao Air, established in 2005 and based in Shanghai, is a privately owned airline with a fleet of about 100 aircraft, including 10 Boeing Dreamliners. As a Star Alliance Connecting Partner, Juneyao Air enhances the connectivity between Belgium and China and beyond.

Shanghai is a key destination in Asia, and by adding the offer of Juneyao Air, there are now daily flights from Brussels Airport to Shanghai. This route offers Belgian travellers an excellent gateway to China for both leisure and business, especially with the easing of visa requirements. It also strengthens diplomatic and economic ties between Brussels and Shanghai.

The flight schedule aligns with Brussels Airlines’ network, ensuring seamless connections to Europe, Africa, and North America. Additionally, these flights will boost cargo capacity, supporting trade and economic collaboration between Belgium and China.

This new collaboration was celebrated with a gate event and a water salute to wish passengers and crew good luck on the first flight.

Founded in 2006, Juneyao Air is one of the leading private-owned carriers in China, and the first Connecting Partner of Star Alliance. Currently the airline reaches near 200 destinations in Asia and Europe, with a modern fleet of 92 aircrafts, comprising narrow-bodied Airbus A320s and wide-bodied Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.

Juneyao Air made history by being the first Chinese private-owned carrier to operate intercontinental flights in June 2019, linking Shanghai and Helsinki daily. The airline is currently operating six aircraft of this type from its largest hub in Shanghai, four further are expected to be delivered soon.

The airline’s flagship – the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner features two cabins of service offering comfortable ergonomic seating, enhanced definition intuitive touch personal entertainment screens and wireless internet access. 29 seats in Business Class have direct access to the aisle and can be fully reclined into a bed position, giving passengers a superior sleep experience, which greatly enhance the level of the travel comfort. 295 seats in the Economy Class are designed to provide comfortable personal space and state-of-the-art individual on-demand entertainment system.
