Hayman has been named Best Hotel/Resort in Australia. The award was presented at a prestigious dinner in Adelaide on Saturday night (26 July), acknowledging recipients of the AFTA National Travel Industry Awards for Excellence in 2003.

It comes at a special time for the acclaimed Great Barrier Reef destination, which was inducted into the Australian Tourism Awards` Hall of Fame this year, following receipt of the award as best in Australia for the third successive year – a first for an Australian resort.

Hayman General Manager, Lloyd Donaldson, said this latest award was a tribute to a wonderful team of employees who live and work on Hayman and remain committed to providing an outstanding private resort experience.

An important thank you must also go to our industry partners who showcase the many unique and memorable features of our island destination to Australia and the world Mr Donaldson said.

Hayman recently completed an $AUD30 million refurbishment and enhancement program undertaken by owning company, Principal Hotel Group, which has included the unveiling of new decor and resort living and dining experiences, and consolidates Hayman`s reputation as one of the world`s leading resort destinations, providing a safe, natural and refreshing experience.
