TripIt launches personalized recommendations: Hotels and offers tailored for each traveler

TripIt, mobile trip organizer from Concur, nnounced a new way for travelers to get personalized recommendations on hotels and nearby restaurants or activities, by organizing their itineraries on TripIt.com.

TripIt’s hotel recommendations are personalized based on the traveler’s past trips and preferences – and for TripIt Pro users, reward point programs are factored in. Travelers can explore other hotels nearby on a map view of their itinerary, and make a reservation without leaving TripIt.com. Hotel reward points can be earned for their stay, and there are no booking fees.

In addition, TripIt now recommends personalized offers to help travelers save money on activities and merchants located near their hotel or other plans in their itinerary. Personalized offers are sourced from the Yipit API, providing TripIt users with relevant deals from hundred of daily deals sites, including thousands of local restaurants, bars, spas and more. TripIt makes it easy to see how many miles away each deal is located, and allows the traveler to explore different categories of offers.

“There’s a lot of clutter and noise that competes for travelers’ attention when they’re booking a hotel or trying to find things to do while they’re in town,” says Nancy Ramamurthi, VP of Product Management and Marketing for TripIt. “We’re keeping things simple by using itinerary data to provide smart recommendations, rather than making the traveler do all the work.”

TripIt instantly organizes all travel reservations and activities – no matter where they are booked – into one helpful itinerary, which can easily be shared with others.
