The Tourism Authority of Thailand has reassured all the visitors to Thailand that there is no threat to Thailand and the Kingdom remains a safe and secure destination. The Royal Thai Government has been strengthening its security since 9/11, with all security and emergency agencies trained to respond immediately to threats and emergency situations. There have been no specific terrorist threats and the government is committed to providing a safe visit to all travellers to the Kingdom.

The Jakarta hotel bomb blast on 5 August will not affect any of the international events that are being staged throughout Thailand for the rest of the year. Events such as the Soccer Tournament between Thailand National Team and Real Madrid on 10 August 2003, World Snooker in Bangkok from 27 – 30 August 2003, 10th APEC Finance Meeting in Phuket from 4 – 6 September 2003, Thailand Travel Mart at BITEC scheduled for 16 – 18 September and 11th Informal APEC Economic Leaders` Meeting from 20 -23 October 2003 in Bangkok will go ahead as scheduled.
