Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) and Visa International (Thailand) Company Limited together announced QR Code payment, based on the Standardized QR Code, at an event held at St. Regis Hotel in Bangkok. QR Code payment will make buying THAI tickets more convenient for customers.
Mr. Wiwat Piyawiroj, THAI Executive Vice President, Commercial, said that THAI as the national carrier of Thailand supports the Government’s Thailand 4.0 policy and the National E-Payment policy, in preparation for transformation to a cashless society. THAI has launched its QR Code on the company website thaiairways.com, which makes payment for passenger tickets more convenient. Electronic payment for airline tickets will be charged to the Visa credit card linked with the participating commercial bank used in the transaction.
QR Code payment is being used more frequently by financial institutions and other industries such as telecommunications.
