At the Air Cargo Forum in Hong Kong (ACF2002<.>) the cargo division of

Swiss<.> International Air Lines Ltd. are presenting, for the first time its business strategy and its new product folio to international specialists. In addition, more than 30 air cargo trucks, sporting the new Swiss WorldCargo colours will soon be traversing the roads of Europe.

With a capacity that has shrunk by 60 per cent below that of the former Swisscargo, Swiss WorldCargo started its operational activities on April 1. Concentration on the marketing of belly capacity of the Swiss fleet led to changes in strategy. As Beat Hogger, Vice President Marketing, Products & Customer Relations explained, `Swiss WorldCargo is focussing on niche products with high added value. To emphasise this, the products are called Swiss X-Presso (Express), Swiss Perishables, Swiss Valuables and Swiss Mail (Post). The newly-created product brochures will also be presented at the ACF2002 and may be obtained free of charge by e-mail from cargo@mail.swiss.com. The Air Cargo Forum is organized by the International Cargo Association (TIACA<.>) every two years and, this

year, it is being held in Hong Kong from September 17 – 20.

Blue-white-red

More than thirty trucks, which Swiss WorldCargo will be operating as supplementary air cargo transports will be presented at the start of the 02/03 winter timetable period. They will feature the Swiss colours of red and white, to which is added the divisional colour of blue, thus displaying their tight links to the image of Swiss International Air Lines. The trucks serve to complete the connections of the air cargo network between the most important economic European centers and Zurich. On the one hand, they serve as feeders for the long-haul flights at the hub and, on the other hand, for the

finely-tuned distribution after the long-haul flights. In addition to the carriage of full-sized air cargo containers, they will be used for small shipments, express consignments as well as perishable and temperature-sensitive goods, thanks to the cooling equipment installed. The vehicles are of the latest generation, with low noise levels and exhaust emissions, and fully meet the specific regulations for air cargo transportation.
