In mid-December, SWISS will open its own bases for cabin crews in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangkok. By employing local Flight Attendants, SWISS is responding to the wishes expressed by clients. This type of service has long been utilised by other European airlines.

Within the next few days, 75 Flight Attendants of Indian or Thai nationality will be engaged. Clients flying to or from India or Thailand will in future be cared for by two or three Flight Attendants who speak the local language. The Flight Attendants at the three bases have already completed their training and, after a short period of additional instruction, will immediately be able to

commence their duties.

These new appointments will make up for the natural attrition rate in Switzerland and do not, therefore, necessitate the engagement of additional cabin crews. In parallel with the opening of bases in India and Thailand, SWISS is currently training about 100 new Flight Attendants in Switzerland.
