BANGKOK – The Onyx Hospitality Group, operator of the Amari group of hotels, has appointed Sukamal Mondal as the General Manager of Amari Watergate Bangkok and Area General Manager of hotels under the Onyx group such as Oriental Residence Bangkok, Amari Residence Bangkok, Amari Don Muang, Shama Asoke Lakeview, Shama Sukhumvit Soi 4, and Shama Sukhumvit Soi 39.
Sukamal Mondal first assumed the title of General Manager at the tender age of 32, a testament to his capabilities and natural leadership qualities.
Coming from a traditional Indian family, Khun Sukamal’s journey into the hospitality industry began at a young age. He started his career as a bartender in China, where he swiftly worked his way up to become a restaurant services manager. In 2006, he began his journey with ONYX Hospitality Group, where he was appointed as the Resident Manager of Shama Century Park in Shanghai.
His passion and capabilities, were quickly recognised within the organisation. At the mere age of 32, Sukamal, was appointed as the General Manager of Shama Sukhumvit Bangkok. Since then, Sukamal Mondal has gone from strength to strength, holding key leadership roles within the ONYX Hospitality Group.
In late 2021, as the hospitality industry prepares to welcome travelers back from all over the world, Sukamal stepped into his current role as General Manager of Amari Watergate and Area General Manager. Sukamal aims to build a young and dynamic team that are confident enough to bring bold ideas to uplift Amari Watergate Bangkok’s image to the next level. His end goal is to transform Amari Watergate Bangkok into one of the top MICE and corporate hotels in Bangkok.
