Star Cruises and the Sabah Hotel Association are pleased to join hands once again in bringing happiness and fortune to the residence of the Sri Pritchard Old Folks Home, celebrating Chinese New Year in the year of the goat.

Kota Kinabalu, Sabah (Malaysia) – Star Cruises, the leading cruise line in Asia Pacific, and its crew members from SuperStar Aquarius, together with the Sabah Hotel Association members, had jointly organised a visit to the Sri Pritchard Old Folks Home in Kinarut, Papar, Sabah (Malaysia) on 12th February 2015, in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration. After a very successful visit to the Cancer Ward of the Likas Hospital during the recent Christmas season, Star Cruises and the Sabah Hotel Association are pleased to join hands once again in bringing happiness and fortune to the residence of the Sri Pritchard Old Folks Home, celebrating Chinese New Year in the year of the goat.

Both organizations had work closely together to share and fulfill their Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) to help those less fortunate and in need of assistance. Members of the Sabah Hotel Association including its associate members, as well as the kind hearted general public had jointly contributed both in cash and in kind, such as gifts, towards this meaningful CSR initiative. Also in conjunction with this, Star Cruises had also set-up donation boxes onboard its cruise ship, SuperStar Aquarius, to further assist and raise additional funds for this charitable cause.

The SuperStar Aquarius team led by Mr Alan Wong, Hotel Manager and Mr Edwin Chung, Executive Assistant Manager had arranged for SuperStar Aquarius’ very own entertainers and mascot, including the God of Fortune to entertain the senior citizens with a variety of exciting performances during the visit to the Sri Pritchard Old Folks Home. Adding joy to this festive celebration, Star Cruises together with the Sabah Hotel Association also surprised the residence of the Sri Pritchard Old Folks Home with various gifts and personal items.

What would Chinese New Year be like without the traditional Lion dance? The event started with a very special Lion Dance performance as the opening act and ended on a joyous note with the traditional ceremony of presenting “Ang Pows” to each of the residence that were present, which included approximately 80 to 90 senior citizens. The Sabah Hotel Association and Star Cruises thanked the Management of the Sri Pritchard Old Folks Home, especially En. Ahmadzaini Hj. Shahzinan for their kind consent and assistance, in making this event a memorable event for all those that were present.

Members of the general public can continue to help and contribute towards the residence of the Sri Pritchard Old Folks Home, by giving their donations to members of the Sabah Hotel Association via the donation boxes, which are available at the reception counter of the various participating hotels in Sabah.

On Star Cruises, every journey is a voyage of discovery and surprise.
