Sofitel expands in the China market with new property in Guiyang

To further expand its network across China, Sofitel Luxury Hotels announces the signing of a prestigious, new 231-room hotel in the burgeoning city of Guiyang in 2014. At 57 storeys high, the new Sofitel Guiyang will become the city’s tallest building and landmark. Guiyang is the provincial capital of Guizhou Province as well as a major city in South West China, and has long been the manufacture base of Mao Tai, the most well-known hard liquor of China.

Set to become an iconic business hotel in Guiyang, the Sofitel Guiyang will feature 231 spacious hotel rooms and suites, three restaurants including a roof-top all day dining restaurant, two bars, a dividable ballroom, five inspired meeting rooms of varying sizes, the group’s signature So SPA, fitness center So FIT, and a swimming pool. It will also have a Club Millesime executive lounge, complemented by a fully equipped business center, and 100 parking stalls. The stunning skyscraper will be the tallest building in the city with the highest visibility from all directions.

Sofitel Guiyang is developed by Guizhou Hunter Real Estate Development Co. Ltd. As one of the largest real estate developers and property management companies in Guizhou Province, the company has already developed several shopping malls as well as residential projects in Guiyang and is committed to making the Sofitel Guiyang a leading feature within its growing portfolio.

Strategically located in downtown Guiyang and housed in the upper and podium sections of the Guiyang International Financial Center, the hotel is an integral component to Guiyang’s most high-end shopping complex and office buildings. Upon completion, the Sofitel Guiyang will be just 30-minute away drive from Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport and a 20 minute drive away from the newly built convention center in Jinyang new district.

With its warm climate throughout the year as well as rich ethnic and natural resources such as the Huanggua Tree Waterfall, Guiyang is a popular leisure destination and has consistently attracted foreign visitors in recent years. Reflecting its emerging economy and infrastructure development, Guiyang will soon become the center point of the Guangzhou-Chonqing high-speed railway, which is now under construction and will attract a constant stream of business travelers once complete.

Commenting on this additional Sofitel property in South West China, Michel Molliet, Vice President of Sofitel Greater China, said, “We look forward to opening this new Sofitel in Guiyang, in the economic and commercial hub of Guizhou Province. With this additional presence, Sofitel Luxury Hotels will have a total of 27 hotels in Greater China including projects under progress till Year 2015 in Sanya, Haikou, Foshan, Kunming, Wuxi, Lianyungang, and Changsha.”
