The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) is preparing a Roadshow through six cities in Malaysia, namely Johor Bahru, Penang, Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu, in October and November to generate greater buzz and excitement for the `Singapore Roars` campaign. The main aim of the Roashow is to attract more Malaysians to visit Singapore for its exciting line-up of events, festivals and Roaring travel deals.
On the trade front, a Singapore Travelmart will be held for Malaysian travel industry buyers in four selected cities, Penang, Ipoh, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu. The Singapore Travelmart is specifically designed to serve as a platform for the Singapore travel trade to showcase their diverse range of tourism products, highlight special promotions and attractive offers, and conduct business with their Malaysian industry counterparts. The Singapore delegation comprising a mix of hotels, site attractions and travel agents is set to offer fantastic deals to the Malaysian trade partners, as well as strengthen relationships in the market-place.
In tandem, Malaysian consumers can catch the Singapore Roars! Special as STB and its industry partners roar into the Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur MATTA Fairs as well as Penang, Ipoh, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu.
Details of the Roadshow are as follows:
- 26-28 Sept 2003 – Johor Bahru MATTA Fair
- 3-5 Oct 2003 – Penang, Plaza Gurney
- 10-12 Oct 2003 – Ipoh, Ipoh Parade
- 17-19 Oct 2003 – Kuala Lumpur MATTA Fair
- 24-26 Oct 2003 – Kuching, Waterfront Square
- 31 Oct – 2 Nov 2003 – Kota Kinabalu, Wisma Merdeka
Visitors to the Singapore Roars! Special at the various cities will be spoilt for choice with all the great value packages being offered from tours to attractions to accommodation. Accommodation as low as RM 70 a night or a 3-day/2-night coach package from RM199 are some examples of the great deals that Malaysian consumers can look forward to. Exciting entertainment for one and all has also been lined up, with the anchor event being a Phua Chu Kang and Ning Baizura Look-Alike Contest. At every city, the best impersonators of these recently-appointed Celebrity Ambassadors for Singapore will win a fabulous all-expense paid trip to compete in the Grand Finals in Singapore and be judged by Ning and PCK themselves!
Other attractive promotions and activities that visitors can look forward to are:
- Quizzes and fun, interactive stage contests
- With every RM50 purchase from any of the Singapore Roars! vendor, visitors are entitled to a Sure-Win chance at attractive prizes that include cruise packages, exclusive T-shirts and other exciting gifts
- Special artiste performance in various cities; Catch Fann Wong in Johor Bahru and Kuching and Phua Chu Kang in Penang
The Singapore Roars! Roadshow is also supported by an intense publicity drive, including collaborations with local travel agent partners and a dedicated advertising and pubic relations campaign.
According to Mr Dayne Hakim Lim, Regional Director of ASEAN (Mainland):
The Singapore Roars! Roadshow follows the success of the inaugural Singapore Travelmart 2003 and Singapore Roars! @ Bintang Walk consumer event held in conjunction with the opening of the first STB Office in Kuala Lumpur in August 2003. This multi-city Roadshow demonstrates STB`s long-term commitment towards working closely with the Malaysian travel trade and reinforcing the image of Singapore as a vibrant, sophisticated and eventful city that has something to offer to all Malaysians.
In the coming months of November and December for example, Singapore`s event calendar is literally lit up by the exciting Hari Raya and Deepavali Light-Ups, Bollywood Extravaganza and Christmas Extravaganza, all excellent reasons for Malaysians to visit Singapore.
