The main component of the week will be a full day conference which will be officiated by YB Dato’ Seri Hajah Nancy binti Shukri, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture.

Putrajaya, Malaysia – The Meet in Malaysia @ Malaysia Business Events Week (MIM @ MBEW), initiated by Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) will return in its 7th year with the main aim to discuss key issues on reshaping business events. To be held from 29 August – 1 September 2022 at World Trade Centre (WTC) Kuala Lumpur, the event is expected to bring more than 700 delegates, international speakers and buyers, association executives, industry partners, stakeholders, and esteemed media.

“With the theme “Reshaping Business Events”, some of the important topic that will be featured is about diversity, equity, & inclusion, sustainability & UNSDG, and talent pool, among others. Following our visit to Jakarta in June, I am pleased to share that we will be witnessing a signing of Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between Malaysia and Indonesia Industry Stakeholders. This strategic partnership targets to build a closer relationship with our Asia counterparts based on communality and explore new opportunities to boost the business events market within the region,” said Dato’ Sri Abdul Khani Daud, Chief Executive Officer of MyCEB.

The main component of the week will be a full-day conference which will be officiated by YB Dato’ Seri Hajah Nancy binti Shukri, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture. The other components are B2B exhibition which is called BE Xchange, sustainability workshops and business strategy roundtable. Big shift of the event this year will be consciously done with sustainability in mind; minimise food waste, avoid single-use plastics, carbon footprint, working closely with NGOs for a food drive initiative, CSR programme with Zoo Negara and collaborate with Kloth Malaysia to avoid unwanted clothes to go to landfill. As a matter of fact, all collaterals used during the event will be environmental-friendly and up-cycle. MyCEB has also engaged Urbanice Malaysia and Global Destination Sustainability Movement to inculcate sustainability in the DNA of business events industry.

Speakers during the conference will represent all key international business events associations such as Asian Federation of Exhibition and Convention Associations (AFECA), Business Events Council Malaysia (BECM), Destination International (DI), International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), International Association of Professional Congress Organisers (IAPCO), International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE), Malaysian Association Of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (MACEOS), Malaysian Society of Association Executives (MSAE), Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA), Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI), Union of International Associations (UIA), and will receive support form all the state convention bureau in Malaysia as well as M&C Asia and BERNAMA as its official media partner.

MIM @ MBEW 2022 aims to focus on reviving Malaysia’s business events ecosystem by knowledge exchange and building relationships to elevate professionalism with resilience. The event showcases latest trend, best practices and case studies with a focus on sustainability and digitalisation. It will also promote Malaysia as a global business events destination, highlighting its accessibility to much of the world’s population, its tourist attractions, state-of-the-art infrastructure and the famed Malaysia hospitality.

With all these key ingredients, MyCEB hope that the 7th MIM @ MBEW will be able to reshape the business events community to a greater height.
