MAURITIUS – Darren Edmonstone, Outrigger Executive Vice President and Managing Director, Asia-Pacific, is pleased to announce the appointment of Frederick de Marcy Chelin as Director of Sales and Marketing for the Outrigger Mauritius Resort and Spa. The new Outrigger property is scheduled to open in the Indian Ocean in December 2013. Mr de Marcy Chelin’s appointment is effective from 27 August 2013.
Mr de Mary Chelin has over eight years’ hospitality experience in Mauritius. For the last four years he has worked for Starwood Hotels and Resorts as Director of Corporate and Group Sales, responsible for three properties in Mauritius: Le Meridien Ile Maurice, The Westin Turtle Bay, Mauritius, and The St Regis Mauritius Resort.
Prior to that he was with two destination management companies in Mauritius, an independent sovereign state located about 2,000 kms east of Africa in the Indian Ocean.
Mr Edmonstone said: “With his first-hand knowledge of marketing five-star resorts in Mauritius, Frederick brings expertise, enthusiasm and energy to the task. He will help us establish Outrigger Mauritius Resort and Spa as one of the most acclaimed beachfront properties in this exotic destination.”
Mr de Marcy Chelin, a native of Mauritius, graduated with a degree in Tourism Management from IFC Montpellier in France.
The Outrigger Mauritius Resort and Spa will be the first property for Outrigger in the Indian Ocean. Since starting its expansion into the Asia-Pacific region in 2008, Outrigger has grown its presence to include properties currently open or under development in Bali and Phuket, Thailand, the two most popular resort destinations in Asia; as well as in Phi Phi Island, Thailand; Sanya, Hainan Island, China; and Quy Nhon, Vietnam.
