In conjunction with the World Health Organisation`s (WHO) decision over the weekend to lift the travel advisory to Singapore, Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels announced new dates for the 6th Asia Pacific Hotel Investment Conference. The event will now take place from 22nd to 24th July 2003, with the conference to be held on the 24 July at The Ritz Carlton, Millenia Singapore.
With Singapore declared Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) free, we can now confidently host this leading forum, reaffirming that the Asia Pacific hotel and tourism industry is `Steppin` Out` and that business travel and meetings in Singapore have resumed said Mr. Scott Hetherington, Managing Director Asia, Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels.
Held annually in Singapore, the invitation only event is firmly established as the premier forum for the Asia Pacific hospitality industry, attracting over 300 CEOs, Managing Directors and CFOs of hotel owning and operating companies, as well as major financial institutions.
In the current climate, the July conference will present a great opportunity for our industry`s leaders to share their views on recent events and discuss the road forward for the region`s hospitality industry said Mr A. Patrick Imbardelli, Managing Director Asia Pacific, InterContinental Hotels Group.
The InterContinental Hotels Group, which operates more 150 hotels in 22 countries and over 40,000 rooms in the Asia Pacific region, is firmly committed to the recovery of the region`s hotel market. The 6th Asia Pacific Hotel Investment Conference is an excellent platform to commence the process.
The conference agenda will incorporate a session with key members of the region`s tourism and travel transportation industries; a discussion on trends in hotel operating and marketing agreements; the Chief Executive`s Roundtable and the presentation of the Hotelier of the Year Award.
We are proud to continue our association with the Asia Pacific Hotel Investment Conference in 2003. The impact of SARS has not just been confined to Asia and we are looking forward to this gathering of industry stakeholders not only from the Asia Pacific region but from around the globe said Mr. Paul Foskey, Senior Vice President, Marriott International. Asia Pacific will continue to remain a key growth region for our group and we are keen to see travel activities resume as soon as possible. We are confident the conference will provide a boost for Asia`s hotel operators and owners and help re-establish investor confidence in the region.
The 6th Asia Pacific Hotel Investment Conference is hosted by Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels together with sponsorship support by Accor Asia Pacific, Baker and McKenzie, Bintan Resorts, InterContinental Hotels Group, Marriott International, Raffles International, Singapore Tourism Board, Starwood Hotels and Resorts and The Leading Hotels of the World.
