Nepal at the Vakentiebeurs-2005

Nepal Tourism Board participated in 35th Edition of the Vakentiebeurs held in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The Fair was grand in itself with total space of 39000 sq. mtrs. and was participated in by 1600 exhibitors form 106 countries. During the six day show from 11 January to 16 January 2005, total number of 145000 visitors visited the fair and Nepal Stand was visited by about 7500 visitors. The Nepal Pavilion situated in the Hall 3, location no C102 was close to the entrance of the rear side of the Hall, and was beautifully decorated with some attractive posters, Jhallars, prayer flags and Astamangals, which attracted the eyes of thousands of visitors.

Along with Nepal Tourism Board were three tourism entrepreneurs viz. Nature Trail Trekking and Expedition, Village Tours and Travels and Explore Nepal Richa Tours and Travels representing Nepal in the fair.

According to 2004 arrival data, the number of Dutch people travelling to Nepal was 6,766, which shows the growth of 20 % as compared to the year 2003. However, out of Dutch population of about 16 million people, 12.8 million people are always on holiday, and 8.3 million Dutch people prefer long haul holiday. Hence, there is a great scope for more Dutch tourists travelling to Nepal provided good air connectivity.

One of the most remarkable features about Nepal in the show was the screening of a documentary film in exhibition theatre on Manang. The show was organized by Himalayan Film Society, Amsterdam, the Netherlands. NTB is confident that the show will create further interest on Nepal in the Dutch market.
