Launching of Brunei December Festival 2018 Awareness Campaign

This year there are 60 events and activities lined up throughout the festival. During the festival, there will be many different activities on offer to both domestic and international visitors.

The Brunei December Festival 2018 gains momentum by the launching of its awareness campaign by The Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong. The event took place on the 14th November 2018 at the Setia Pahlawan Hall of Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism. Also present at the event were Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Sabli bin Haji Arshad as the President of Association of Travel Agents in Brunei, the Permanent Secretary and Deputy Permanent Secretaries of Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, Foreign Dignitaries, Members of the Brunei Tourism Board, Travel agents, Hoteliers, Strategic Partners and Event Organizers.

This year there are 60 events and activities lined up throughout the festival. During the festival, there will be many different activities on offer to both domestic and international visitors. The events and activities involves various categories such as 1) Food Festival; 2) Islamic Festival; 3) Culture and Creative Arts; 4) Sports and Adventure; and 5) Recreation and Shopping. Some of the new events to be highlighted this year includes the ‘Longest Braided Rice (Jalinan Kelupis Terpanjang)’ which is about 700 feet long or 202 meters long, Science Festival (Pesta Sains 2018), Shitokai Brunei Darussalam Open Karate Do Championship, Drone Race, Open Radio-Controlled Powerboat Race, World Nasyeed Festival and Art Painting Exhibition ‘Raja Julangan Kasih Rakyat’ which will be held at the Waterfront Art Gallery. And also, for the first time, Brunei will have its own ‘Brunei Book of Records’ that is for any records in this country to be set or broken. 

The Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism have collaborated with a number of strategic partners to launch a number of new initiatives at today’s event. Firstly, the Festival Insider’s Guide which provides an insight to events that is listed in the Brunei December Festival. Secondly, the Brunei.Event Magazine, an extended features of the the brunei.events website. The Brunei.Event Magazine provides quarterly information of local events that will take place in Brunei Darussalam. The magazine provide useful
information that helps visitors to schedule the best time to visit Brunei or plan their activities while they are in Brunei.

Thirdly, Musafir Guide Book, a guide book for travelling produced by Bank Islamic Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) and Dakwah and Islamiah Centre, Ministry of Religious Affairs, which is now available both in Malay and English and also accessible online through the tourism’s website. With Bandar Seri Begawan named as the ‘Capital City of Islamic Culture for Asia in 2019 as well as the ASEAN City of Culture (2016-2018)’, this guide book will provide Muslim travellers with proper guidance and methods of performing prayer during travel, as according to Islamic practices and outlines.

The Brunei December Festival are supported by various Government agencies namely Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Communications and Ministry of Health as well as Foreign missions in Brunei Darussalam, Strategic Partner, Event Organizers and youth volunteers that wish to be part of this exciting event.

The event also held a presentation of contribution and support from Strategic Partners. A mini-exhibition of the Brunei December festival 2018 was also showcased that features some of the events of the festival.

The Brunei Tourism Board aims to hold Brunei December Festival as an annual event that will create Brunei Darussalam as an attractive destination for both the locals and tourist to spend their holidays and enjoy as well as make positive impact on the economy.
