InsideJapan Tours proclaims the success of first tours and increase in demand exceeding pre-pandemic levels

The Japan travel specialist has had three Small Group Tours run in July with two more in August, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. The demand for Small Group Tour spaces has remained high.

Broomfield, US – This summer, US and Japan-based InsideJapan Tours –part of Inside Travel Group- was the first western tour operator to have customers back in Japan after more than two years of closed borders. The Japan travel specialist has had three Small Group Tours run in July with two more in August, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. The demand for Small Group Tour spaces has remained high.

“Our first tour ran from July 3 and it has meant so much to our team, our suppliers on the ground, our customers, and our agent partners to be able to send people to Japan again,” said Co-Founder Simon King.

He added, “With guidelines in place, there was a little concern over customer experience and enjoyment of Japan, but the feedback has been hugely positive. Everyone has been blown away by the welcome they have received, with ryokan guesthouse owners and restaurant owners laying on a little extra, keen to have international business back.”

The current guidelines mean that international visitors to Japan must use the services of a tour leader or guide during their time in Japan and there is an added requirement for international travelers to apply for a tourist visa before travel.

“Despite additional hurdles for international tourists, we have been able to get people traveling again on Small Group Tours and custom-made, guided Exclusive Private Journeys, not only because of our own ‘Insider’ tour leaders and network of guides across the country but also because we have been able to support customers with their tourist visa applications by virtue of being a Japanese government licensed operator,” said King.

“Our Small Group Tour sales for both June and August have not only been strong but have exceeded the equivalent month in 2019, with July sales almost reaching pre-pandemic levels. It is reassuring to see that demand for travel to Japan in 2022 and early 2023 is so strong,” continued King.

InsideJapan Tours has had over 50 people travel to Japan since July and continues to see a demand for travel in 2022. The Japan specialists have around 30 Small Group Tours running between September and December covering most of the country and a vast number of cultural experiences to get people ‘Beneath the Surface’ as the company’s tagline suggests.

King added, “There are only a handful of Small Group Tour spaces left for 2022 and we want our trade partners to be aware that we can get their customers traveling. It is a special time to be in Japan, and after over two years of no travel, we are delighted to be making these tours happen again”
