Hyatt in India announces appointment of first female GM at Hyatt Regency Kolkata

Reinforcing its commitment to diversity and inclusion, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, Southwest Asia has announced the appointment of its first female General Manager in India – Ms. Britta Leick-Milde – who has recently taken over as General Manager of Hyatt Regency Kolkata.

MUMBAI – Hyatt Hotels are well known for their Human Resources initiatives and unique work culture that delivers authentic hospitality at its hotels around the world. Hyatt HR practices have won the global hospitality company a number of Best Workplace awards — including the 2013 Gallup Great Workplace Award. Ms Leick-Milde‘s appointment reflects the unique and personal ways that Hyatt celebrates the strengths of its co-workers in its mission to become the most preferred hospitality brand in all the segments it serves.

Britta’s hospitality career began 20 years ago at the Sheraton Frankfurt Hotel with a vocational training (apprenticeship in Hospitality) in her native Germany. Since then she has worked with the Hilton and Kempinski groups in various capacities. Britta joined the Hyatt family in 2007 as Director of Rooms, Park Hyatt Dubai and was subsequently promoted to the position of Executive Assistant Manager – Rooms. An enthusiastic Indophile, Britta served as Hotel Manager, Grand Hyatt Mumbai for nearly a year before coming over to Hyatt Regency Kolkata as General Manager.

Commenting on her appointment and her future goals for the hotel Britta said, “Kolkata is a great city which is alive with history and culture, and I am extremely happy to be here. I look forward to bringing a spirit of innovation and diversity to this beautiful hotel and look forward to implementing various facets of Hyatt’s innovative ‘Women’s Experience, in addition to integrating closely with the local community through our global Hyatt Thrive Corporate Social Responsibility program.”

Hyatt’s Women’s Experience Initiative: As part of its focus on thoughtful innovation and listening to the needs of its guests, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts launched its ‘Women’s Experience’ initiative early this year after conducting an 18-month study into the needs of the female traveller. The research included findings from more than 40 focus groups around the world, looking for ways to better meet guests’ needs and help them maintain their momentum of lifestyle whilst travelling.

Some of the key features of the ‘Women’s Experience’ include creating specialized dining menus to maintain health and well-being and carry through Hyatt’s philosophy of ‘Food — Thoughtfully Sourced, Carefully Served’, introduction of special cosmetic products in the room, and a “Hyatt Has It” service providing women with frequently forgotten items. These ideas are completely tailored to suit women’s individual preferences.
