HRS, The Hotel Portal, has launched a new version of its iPhone app and updated its mobile website with a design specifically suited to touch screen technology, making it easier for corporate customers to access discounts of up to 30% off the standard leisure rate on the go.
iPhone App – Augmented reality integration
The user interface of the HRS app for iPhone and iPod touch has been redesigned, making it easier for users to book hotels on the go. Upgrades include:
– Predictive destination search – simply enter the initial letters and the HRS app will suggest possible destinations
– GPS- based hotel search, allowing users to find hotels in their local area
– Direct access to the 24-hour telephone hotline
– Sharing via all major social media channels
– Augmented reality search with the integration of Hotels Now!
The Hotel Now! app displays available nearby hotels on smartphone’s camera display. The distance to the hotel, room price and reviews are all visible, making it easy to select a hotel quickly. Available hotels can also be displayed in the standard list view or map view.
HRS offers more than three million guest evaluations, detailed hotel descriptions as well as photos, videos and 360° panoramas to help iPhone users choose the right hotel.
The app is now available to download in 14 languages from the iTunes Store.
Mobile website optimised for touchscreens
The HRS mobile website can be seen in its new format at https://mobile.hrs.com/. The website has been adapted and optimised for touchscreen displays by introducing large buttons that make it easy to navigate using the fingertip.
Special hotel offers such as “Hot deals” or “Exclusive prices”, which offer additional savings, are highlighted so that users never miss a great hotel deal.
The mobile website is available in 13 languages.
General updates
Updates to both the iPhone app and the mobile website mean that it is now possible to include accompanying children in your booking. Additionally, in the MyHRS personal customer area, customers can save their favourite hotels, use booking templates, set preferences and access their entire booking history.
“In 2009, we were the first hotel portal worldwide to have an app in the iTunes store. Since then, we have continually improved our mobile applications for booking hotels, customising them to our customers’ needs and technical possibilities. In the meantime, we have extended our presence to fourteen mobile platforms and have further developed our pioneering role in the area of mobile commerce. The reason for all of this is that smartphones and Tablet PCs are becoming an increasingly important booking method for HRS,” says Jon West, Managing Director of HRS UK and Ireland.
