The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), in co-operation with four airlines and 12 travel wholesalers in Taiwan, is spearheading an unprecedented promotion in attempt to help lure back Taiwan travellers to Hong Kong.

This closely follows the Taiwan authorities` withdrawal of quarantine restrictions on leisure travellers returning from Hong Kong from 26 June. The HKTB is now gearing up to promote Hong Kong as a leisure destination worldwide once again after the SARS outbreak, according to the readiness of each different market.

Jointly offering these Buy One, Get One Free packages at irresistible prices are Cathay Pacific Airways, China Airlines, Eva Airways, Hong Kong Dragon Airlines and 12 travel wholesalers. Prices for a three-day, two-night Hong Kong trip for two, with air tickets and hotel accommodation included, start as low as HK$2,000.

Joint advertising will be launched by the HKTB with the travel wholesalers starting from 28 June, to stimulate bookings. The promotion takes place from then until 5 July. Visitors need to make their trips between 1 July and 10 August.

Currently, the HKTB is inviting travel trade members and media guests to Hong Kong so that they can see for themselves that the city`s vibrancy and energy is restored, and that its tourism strengths and attributes remain unchanged. The first group of some 40 trade and media leaders from Taiwan will arrive on 3 July.

The HKTB will launch a two-month Hong Kong Welcomes You! promotion in mid-July, with a series of major events being lined up to sustain Hong Kong`s global revival campaign and strengthen its reputation as one of Asia`s most popular travel destinations.
