Florentia Village debuts in Chengdu

Stepping further into China's second-tier cities market. Authentic Italian lifestyle arrives in Southwest China.

HONG KONG – Italian luxury designer outlet Florentia Village celebrated its grand opening in Chengdu with a star-studded line-up, including the famous actress Sun Qian and Super Model Xie Xin. Mr. Jacopo Mazzei, Chairman and CEO of RDM Group and Mr. Maurizio Lupi, Managing Director of Florentia Village and RDM Asia cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony, joined by Mr. Filippo Umberto Nicosia, Consul General of Italy in Chongqing and local government representatives. The famous actress Sun Qian and Super Model Xie Xin were present and celebrated the Grand Opening of Florentia Village Chengdu together.

The new opening in Pidu district, Chengdu, marks Florentia Village’s Southwestern China debut with classical Italian architecture, and is a reflection of the brand’s strategic foray in China’s second-tier cities, following its successful launch in Wuhan earlier this year. Mr. Jacopo Mazzei addressed on the opening ceremony, “The Chengdu outlet is our first opening in China’s southwestern region, which further completes our portfolio of premium outlet centers in the Greater China market. It also marks our deeper expansion into China’s second-tier cities — a strategic move to increase our market leadership in China.” “With its fast increasing luxury shopping potential, strategic location, and strong tourist traffic, Chengdu will surely become a new growth focal point for us,” he added.

The 35,000-square meter Florentia Village blends an attractive brand-mix, including Brooks Brothers, Furla, CK, Tommy Hilfiger, Nike, Adidas, Puma, GAP, Guess, I.T, Folli Follie with a pure Italian atmosphere. Step into Florentia Village, and customers will embark on a unique experience of pure Italian lifestyle. Customers can take a head-turning snapshot before the typical Italian architecture in Baroque styles, join in the fun of Santa Clause parade show with kids or simply grab a seat in the central plaza, take in the world set to the warbling sound of the fountain, and enjoy with beloved one a moment of the Mediterranean pace of life. At Florentia Village, a full range of facilities and services are offered for a leisurely tour with the family or pets, such as the VIP lounge, kid’s playground, and pet strollers.

The famous actress Sun Qian and Super Model Xie Xin were present at the opening ceremony, and joined in a half-day tour around the 35,000-square meter complex of nearly 100 top-brand boutiques, to experience a one-stop shopping extravaganza and the attentive services at Florentia Village.

Since its first opening in China in 2011, Florentia Village has been aggressively expanding its footprint across Greater China, and is now operating premium outlet centers in six major cities – Hong Kong, Tianjin, Shanghai, Foshan, Wuhan and Chengdu, with a yearly turnover of RMB 6.7 Billion and growth of 22%. The outlet chain has introduced to Chinese fashion-savvy consumers close to 300 international brands at attractive discounts of up to 80 percent. Some brands even have their outlet stores exclusively at Florentia Village.

With 20 years of success in operating premium outlets in Europe, Florentia Village will bring to Chengdu not only an ultimate shopping experience with its unparalleled brand offering, attractive promotion and attentive customer services, but also an authentic taste of Italian lifestyle, and is expected to inject more vitality to the high-end retail market in southwestern China.

The new outlet is conveniently located at the heart of the city’s Pidu district, the cradle of China’s rural tourism industry, which promises a substantial tourist traffic. It is only 45-minute drive to downtown and the city’s airport, and is pivotally embraced by various famous tourist attractions, including the scenic Qingcheng mountain and Dujiangyan Irrigation System, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site, which are both within one-hour’s drive. The favorable location, coupled with full-fledged facilities and services, will undoubtedly make Florentia Village the next tour destination in Chengdu beyond a luxury shopping hotspot.

Spurred by the fast-growing appetite for a more sophisticated lifestyle and contemporary shopping experience in both China and the broader Asian market, the outlet giant will continue to bring an authentic Italian shopping experience to more regions in China and other selective locations in Asia.
