Expedia gives Singaporeans more reasons to pack their bags with the launch of Flights and Packages

Expedia, Inc. announced the launch of its full-service site in Singapore, Expedia.com.sg, offering travellers flight and dynamic holiday packages at unbeatable value. The site now offers Singapore travellers a one-stop shop for all their travel needs with a ‘Best Price Guarantee’.

The Expedia Best Price Guarantee is the most comprehensive customer guarantee in online travel and covers everything from packages to standalone hotel deals booked on Expedia.com.sg. If customers find a better price online for the exact same trip, Expedia will match the lower rate and also give away a travel voucher worth S$50 for future bookings. A dedicated 24-hour call centre is also available to provide assistance.

“Singapore is a very important online travel market in the region worth over US$1.5 billion and we know just how much Singaporeans love to travel. With Expedia.com.sg, travellers here can now choose from a selection of over 400 airlines and 140,000 hotels to create their best value dream holiday packages, enjoying instant cost-savings,” said Dan Lynn, CEO of AirAsiaExpedia.

“We understand travel and we know that planning a holiday can be both exciting and overwhelming. That’s why we’ve created the Expedia Best Price Guarantee so travellers can book on Expedia.com.sg with confidence. Planning and booking a vacation for the best price shouldn’t be hard work,” added Lynn.

Expedia is committed to helping travellers create and enjoy the best trip at the greatest value possible. In line with this promise, Expedia entered into a first of its kind partnership with AirAsia in March this year providing travellers with more convenience and enhanced access to low fares and holiday packages. With this venture, Expedia is the only 3rd party online travel agency offering all AirAsia and AirAsia X flights to over 75 destinations worldwide.

To celebrate the launch of the enhanced Expedia.com.sg, Expedia is offering unbeatable 4days/3nights flight and hotel packages to favourite holiday hotpots such as Bali, Phuket, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Penang starting from as low as $87. Valid for travel until March 31st, 2012, travellers need to book on Expedia.com.sg from now to Oct 9th, 2011 to take advantage of the promotion!

The introduction of flights and packages will also be launched on the Expedia Travel Agents Affiliate Program (TAAP) platform giving agent members direct access to the full Expedia extensive global inventory of hotels, flights and packages. In addition, TAAP members will receive an increase in commission on air bookings when booked as part of a package. Agents will earn 10% or more on land content and 1.5% on air content for Expedia packages no matter what carrier is booked. That means agents can earn great commission on Expedia packages even when the flight is with a Low Cost Carrier who generally offer no commission at all. Conversely, Expedia will stop paying commission on bookings for Stand Alone flights.

Expedia will also be showcasing its new brand positioning in all communications including a nationwide campaign that captures the excitement of travel. Putting the spotlight on the iconic yellow Expedia suitcase, the campaign tagline summarizes the brand’s proposition this holiday season – “Pack your bags Singapore!”
