Booking.com reveals Krabi ranked as the most welcoming province in Thailand by 1.8M reviews

This province ranking was sorted from the total of 12,969 accommodations receiving a Traveller Review Award 2022 in Thailand.

BANGKOK – Booking.com, a leading digital travel platform, announced the winners of its tenth annual Traveller Review Awards 2022. With so many incredible winners to highlight in Thailand, Krabi, the icon of the Andaman, was named the most welcoming province in the country due to its best hospitality followed by Trat, Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai and Nakhon Ratchasima respectively.

This province ranking was sorted from the total of 12,969 accommodations receiving a Traveller Review Award 2022 in Thailand. Globally, this year’s awards have been based on over 232 million reviews, and the winning properties were reviewed 146.8 million times, while the average awardee in Thailand received an 8.6 and the winning properties were reviewed by a total of 1.8M reviewers. 

2022’s Most Welcoming Places in Thailand
From the pristine natural beauty to stunning coast with breathtaking beaches, and iconic islands based on the list of properties across Thailand receiving a Traveller Review Award 2022, Booking.com is revealing the most welcoming provinces and destinations in Thailand* where travelers can expect to experience the best in hospitality and friendliness as well as cleanliness prioritizing according to customer reviews.

1. Krabi Province
2. Trat Province
3. Chiang Rai Province
4. Chiang Mai Province
5. Nakhon Ratchasima Province

Travelers continue to favor apartments and unique stays
For the fifth year in a row, apartments take the top spot in the Traveller Review Awards 2022 as the most-awarded property type globally, with 561,843 partners being recognized for their efforts. Hotels take the second spot with 172,530 properties being honored, followed by holiday homes (148,962), guest houses (98,466) and B&Bs (79,859). While in Thailand, hotel is being honored as the most popular accommodation type in the market, with 3,541 hotel providers and a total of 4,213 providers in homes, apartments, and other unique places to stay receiving a 2022 award.

Warm and welcoming staff make the difference
When diving into the individual aspects of their stays that Thai and global travelers valued most from properties receiving a Traveller Review Award 2022, staff (9.0) cleanliness (8.9) and location (8.9) received the highest average marks globally. This is well above other aspects evaluated, such as facilities (8.6) or value for money (8.5), demonstrating the importance of those welcoming, friendly interactions during the stay, as well as health and hygiene in light of the evolving status of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Transport providers in the spotlight
For the third year in a row, rental car and airport taxi providers are also being recognized for their excellent service and smooth travel experiences, including 1,628 rental car pick-up locations across 160 countries worldwide. This year, 7,091 airport taxi drivers across 51 taxi providers, spanning 1,400 cities globally are also being honored with an award.
