The Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Olympic Games have become as much a viewing spectacular as the athlete’s achievements. And for the business events industry, the chance to learn some of the secrets behind producing events like these is a great opportunity.

At AIME 2005 you can go behind the scenes to relive the excitement and the challenges with Andrew Walsh, Executive Producer of the Athens Olympic Games’ two major ceremonies.

Andrew Walsh is just one of four international event experts speaking at the Best in the Business Seminar at AIME 2005, 22 & 23 February at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, Australia.

James Thornley from BC Event Management, Vancouver, will provide the inside story on staging and managing ‘Cirque Pacifique’, a multi award winning special event for a prestigious international medical conference of 2,000 delegates. Mr Thornley will also share BC Event Management’s experience in producing Virtual Sky, an extraordinary incentive dinner for 2,000 Japanese cosmetics company employees.

Dr. Philip Batterham, Congress Secretary General for the International Congress of Genetics, staged in Melbourne in 2003, will discuss the strategies behind gaining the right to host this prestigious event, how they overcame the challenges faced attracting delegates, the key role of the media, and the return on investment for the host and the city.

The final case study is the annual Global Brand Forum in Singapore, an ambitious, two-day forum created by the Ogilvy Group and IE Singapore that this year brought many of the world`s most inspirational and influential leaders to Singapore to exchange ideas and share their visions for the future. Mr S Karthik, the founding Chairman of the Global Brand Forum and Group Strategy Director of Ogilvy and Mather Singapore, will present the case study.

Moderator for the Best in the Business seminar will be Ian Stuart, one of Australia’s most experienced and respected business events practitioners.

The Best in the Business seminar is sponsored by BestCities.net, an international alliance of convention bureaux leading the way in developing global best practices through innovation, knowledge exchange, professional development and client servicing in the meetings industry. BestCities.net is the world’s first and only convention bureau alliance with seven partners on five continents.
