The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) would like to inform that the Kingdom of Thailand has not received any adverse effect as a result of the earthquake off the island of Sumatra, Indonesia. There has also been no indication of a Tsunami within the region.
All beach destinations in the country on both the Andaman coast and the Gulf of Thailand are conducting business as usual. Thailand is well prepared in all aspects, as the Royal Thai Government has implemented the necessary measures for visitors to our kingdom to have a satisfying, worthwhile, and value-added holiday. As such, the Meteorological Department informed the relevant authorities to initiate evacuation procedures for the safety of the people. The situation has since returned to normalcy.
Our overseas and local offices are being continually updated through TAT’s Head Office on Thailand’s tourism to media and travel agents in our target markets, so they in turn can inform the traveling public of the facts of the tourism situation in our country.
