Major international airports with passenger check-in and baggage systems provided by ARINC Incorporated have been ranked highest in the world for customer satisfaction by passengers voting in the 2009 SkyTraxTM World Airport Survey, published June 9.
South Korea’s Incheon International Airport was voted “World’s Best Airport” this year. An ARINC customer since 2001, Incheon was closely followed in the balloting by Hong Kong International Airport, and by newly-expanded Singapore Changi International Airport. Both these airports deployed major new installations of ARINC passenger technologies during 2008.
The SkyTrax survey noted that margins between the top three airports this year were “the smallest ever.” In all, more than 8 million passenger votes were cast.
Two other ARINC airport customers, Germany’s Munich Airport and Japan’s Central Japan International Airport (Centrair), also placed among the top ten in the SkyTrax survey, giving ARINC five of the survey’s “ten best airports” as customers.
In addition, the 2009 SkyTrax survey named three long-time ARINC customers—Dallas/Fort Worth International, San Francisco International, and Vancouver International—as the three best airports in North America.
“ARINC fully understands that excellence in customer satisfaction requires far more than great check-in service and state-of-the-art baggage operations,” stated ARINC Vice President and Managing Director Randy Pizzi, who heads the company’s Asia Pacific Division. “We are truly delighted that many of our airport customers are achieving the recognition they deserve for placing their customers first.”
ARINC’s industry-leading passenger solutions for airports include the MUSE family of common-use check-in and departure systems, vMUSE ExpressTM remote check-in systems, SelfServTM CUSS kiosk technology, AirVueTM airport signage systems, AirDBTM database systems, LocalServTM common-use kiosk solutions, LocalCheckTM L-DCS systems, BagLinkTM baggage messaging, ExpressDropTM common baggage drop solution, and a range of other cost-effective applications. In addition, ARINC Managed Services, LLC, a wholly-owned ARINC subsidiary, is the world’s leader in staffing, operations, IT systems support, and service-level contract maintenance for airports of all sizes.
The SkyTrax World Airport Survey is the world’s largest passenger survey of airport standards, the only such survey with a truly global participant base and free of commercial bias. The 2009 World Airport AwardsTM are based on tabulated results from 8.6 million questionnaires completed by airline passengers in 2008/9, covering more than 190 airports worldwide. The survey evaluated travelers’ experiences across 39 different airport service and product categories, from check-in, arrivals, and transfers through departure at the gate.
