Aftermath of SARS epidemic and recovery strategies will be the topic of a special panel presentation to be featured at the First Asia-Pacific CHRIE (APacCHRIE) Conference slated to take place at Lotte Hotel in Seoul, Korea, on May 21-23, 2003.

Panel speakers include Dr. Bob McKercher, Associate Professor of Tourism at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University`s School of Hotel and Tourism Management, Tony Tse, former General Manager of Corporate Communications for the Hong Kong Tourism Board and currently the director of industry partnership at the Hotel and Tourism School at the Hong Kong PolyU, and Fred A. Tibbitts, CEO of FAT Associates in New York. The expert panel will first present a recent research related to prospects for tourism in Asia conducted in Hong Kong followed by a discussion on recovery and communication strategies for destinations affected by the epidemic. Mr. Tibbits will be also featured as a luncheon keynote speaker on Trends of Chain Hotel and Restaurant Development in Asia-Pacific.

According to Dr. Kaye Chon, President APacCHRIE and Conference Chairman, the three day conference will be attended by some 200 hospitality industry professionals and educators from 17 countries, will also feature a special panel presentation on Foodservice Industry in Asia-Pacific by Dr. Ilsun Yang of Yonsei University, Korea, Dr. Fred Mayo, President of International CHRIE, Dr. Carol Shanklin of Kansas State University, USA, and Dr. Eliza Tse of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The Conference is co-organized by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Yonsei University in Korea.
